Here is an example of a fake EBAY email sent to me, asking for my USER ID: # # and # #PASSWORD:
This email had all the markings and colors of the real thing, HOWEVER ITS FAKE, someone is trying to steal your information. Ebay informed me they do not ask for this information via email.

If you are not sure the email is real, contact ebay customer support, security center, or the safe harbor.

This isn't new.
Email supposedly from PayPal is a reality as well, as are supposed E-cards from AOLites that require your username and password to recieve.

It's called "phishing," and has been going on for quite a while.

NO ISP, pass through service (PayPal, BidPay, etc) or auction site will EVER request your information in an email.

And Nigerian scam emails should be forwarded to the FBI.

Welcome to the internet. The last free frontier on the planet http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif lol

BTW, the shortcut to reporting Ebay and Paypal scams, is to forward it with intact headers to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. It goes directly to the fraud dept that way..
