The CX is a low-pressure contest celebrating the older commercial and homebrew equipment that was the pride and joy of our ham shacks just a few short decades ago. #The objective is to encourage restoration, operation and enjoyment of this older "Classic" equipment. #YOU MAY USE ANY EQUIPMENT in the CX, however, new gear is at a distinct scoring disadvantage.
The CX will run from 3 PM EST to Midnight EST on Sunday Feb 10th (2000 UTC Feb 10 to 0500 UTC Feb 11).
Exchange your name, RST, QTH, receiver and transmitter model #(homebrew: send final tube or transistor designation) and other interesting conversation.
CW: Send "CQ CX"; Phone: Call "CQ Classic Exchange"
Suggested frequencies (+/- QRM):
CW: 3.545; 7.045; 14.045; 21.135; 28.180
Novice/Tech+: 3.695; 7.120; 21.135; 28.180
Phone: 3.880; 7.290; 14.260; 21.380; 28.320
The same station may be worked with different equipment combinations on each band and in each mode. #Non-participants may be worked for credit.
Scoring: Multiply total QSO's (all bands) by total number of different receivers plus transmitters plus states/provinces/DX countries worked on each band and mode. (Transcievers count both as transmitter and reciever.)
Multiply that product by your CX multiplier which is the total years old of all receivers and transmitters you used. #Three QSO's minimum per unit to qualify. #For transcievers, multiply age by two. #If equipment is homebrew, count is as a minimum of 25 years old unless actual construction date or date of its construction aritcle is older.
Certificates and appropriate memorabilia are awarded every now and then for the highest score, longest DX, most exotic eqiuipment, best excuses, and other unusual achievements. #A newsletter with scores and highlights is sent to all participants.
Send logs, comments, anecdotes, pictures, etc. to J.D. "Mac" MacAulay WQ8U (jmac6235@yahoo.com) or Jim Hanlon W8KGI (knjhanlon@email.msn.com)
Details of CX are provided on Pg. 109 of the February 2002 QST - however the date is incorrectly shown in that announcement (CX is Sunday, not Saturday)
