I'm so excited.

As posted in this thread (http://www.qrz.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=62407), Captain Brian Chontosh is the recipient of the Navy Cross and a true American Hero.

And I'm going to get to meet Captain Chontosh.

Several fellow Elk members are getting together with me to take Capt. Chontosh out to dinner. After one of my friends in Palmdale heard about it, he went about tracking down this fine Marine, and found him in Southern California. Capt. Chontosh called my friend today, and we're going to take him out to dinner with a few other Elk members either June 5th or 12th.

Capt. Chontosh told us he would love to be taken out to dinner, but he insists on buying the drinks for everyone.

His wife is pregnant with their first child, due in August, and she'll be there with him.

I am SO looking forward to this.

Any of you wish to send a message to Capt. Chontosh? Post in this thread and I'll print it out for him.

73!

Richard,

I have two and only two words for this hero:

Please pass along my gratitude to Captain Chontosh for all that he has done.

To convey my thanks, you may use flags, blinker, words, wig-wag or even CW!

The message: May God bless you, and keep you in the palm of his hand.

I can only agree with the above comments. Thank you Captain Chontosh for your service to your country - OUR country. My family and I are grateful as we enjoy the fruits of your labours and the sacrifices made for us by you and your comrades.

Most sincerely,

Chris Johnson and family.

BTW.. if you want to have some fun.

ask him about his first tour onboard as an officer.
Ask him if they had him 'find the golden rivet'
bring back a gallon of 'prop wash'
'Stand a mail-buoy watch'

And.. if you wish.. inquire of him as to his status as a
Turtle, Shellback, (and there's one for crossing the northern side, but I forget what it is right now)

THe preceeding are ALL good things and I know he'll probably have a few rather humorous stories to go along with each of them

To Capt. Brian Chontosh:

Thank you for your heroic service to our country. My debt to you is beyond words to express, and my ability to pay.

I pray God's loving hand of blessing and protection for you, your wife, and your expected child.

May He keep you in the palm of His loving hand forever!

Bravo Zulu
