You can add George "Dick" Burke, N1RSP to the "Bad Guys" list.
I recently purchased an ICOM 706 MKIIG from him, which he advertised as "like new". Upon receipt, I found that the mic was broken. Repeated attempts to contact Mr. Burke went unanswered. While the cost to replace the mic is only about $50, the rig was not as promised and if the mic was broken, he failed to disclose this and should not have advertised the unit as "like new" with ony a few scratches from the mount" as he described in an e-mail to me.
It's unfortunate that someone couldn't possibly make good on the sale. Not surprised however. Seeing more and more of this daily. There once was a time when an individual would be ashamed and embarrassed that such a thing happened and would reconcile the situation.
And look he isn't an Extra Class op either, as N1OBN constantly rants. Scammers and frauds are across all ranks.
When I have shipped something and something wasn't quite as expected, I always offered to make good on the deal via (offer of refund, replacement of something, purchasing a new manual, mike, etc.). Of course, none of that ever happened. I always sold quality gear and specified exactly what was included, excluded, and actual condition along with a phone number to talk about it prior to the sale.
In this hobby, why should I expect the best. Society sure doesn't reflect utopia either.Sorry to hear about your loss. I too have been scammed by others (oddly, none were Extra Class ops, yet...hi).
Oddly enough, I read:
As posted from N1RSP:
"The Internet Fraud Complaint does nothing to help you if you are ripped
off.I filed a complaint over two months ago and nevre heard from them on
any
results. They do nothing and you cannot contact them and talk to them about
the complaint.I was ripped off from Brian Kress
of Columbus Ohio. His call sign is KC8RCV.He promised to send me my money
back and now he won't answer his emails or telephone calls.I did place a
complaint on the Internet Fraud,Called the police department in Columbus
Ohio and went other steps.
So don't waste your time as you will get no results.
Watch out for ::::DEADBEAT CROOK To Make things worse a ham radio
operator!!!!!"
Kind of ironic isn't it!
(and both are Techs!!!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Obviously Larry, you are missing the point. #N1OBN continually makes reference that crokked scams are via Extra ops and they should never perform such an action since they are Extra ops.
Wasting my time to be sure.
N1RSP is obviously a Tech, so does that same rationale then apply that all Techs are crooked scam artists?
Of course not. #Categorizing and generalizations like that are inane but then again, you already know that don't you?
The Amateur Code of Conduct says nothing abour selling of gear. #However, many individuals in this hobby lack moral character and integrity. #It is unfortunate.
You need to re-read the posts. You obviously missed it. #I don't need any extra shoes! Sounds like both OBN and VSG need enzyte and quit being so envious!
