It may be that the EU would welcome a split from the US for a variety of reasons Osama not withstanding. I have often wondered what would have happened if an American president and Congress had decided to pull troops and weapons out of Europe at the height of the cold war and of protesters urging just that in both the US and Europe. Would the Soviets have taken it over?

George Bush has been called a lot of things by the left, liberal newspapers are running racist editorial cartoons concerning Condoleeza Rice and Gary Trudeau of Doonesbury fame is making brown sugar jokes.

One thing about Bush though... he follows through on what he says he is going to do. Europe might pay some tribute to Osama, but I don't think Bush ever will.

He reiterated his ineptness when he woefully miscalculated our unwavering resolve and our infinite ability to dig him out of the wilderness and bring him to justice.

We are not disheartened that we haven't found him yet. And neither has our determination waned.

This great country and its great people will NEVER negotiate with terrorists. We will show the WORLD that coming to this country to wage terror is a mission of certain suicide.

Our love of freedom, and our charitable nature, and our persuit of human rights for all humanity will not be thwarted by terror.

If our EU allies in the war on terror leave their posts, we will redouble our forces and fight alone.

The bad apples will always find a way in... The only thing you can do is keep an eye out for them.

I know a lot of Britians do not agree with us politically, but I have only heard this particular person go as far as this. Disagreeing is fine, debating is fine, but it goes too far when you attack the person instead of the issue. Its a bit sad that there are people like this in the world (this guy).

They may live somewhat normal lives in public, but on the radio or internet they turn into lids and trolls. I've always wondered how that works. I guess the anonymity of the internet can bring out the worst in people.

Uhh, I didn't start anything. Quite frankly, I don't really know what happened. All I know is, I was in a dialog with OTT and I had finished what I wanted to say and I went to bed.

When I got up, I started to catch up on the thread and it looks like OTT went off his nut and started really being stupid.

Glen kicked his LID arse to the curb, and come to find out, OTT was known by some of the guys on this board and they fingered him as somebody who had already been banned before and logged back in on another ID.

It appears that I innocently engaged in a dialog with another troll, whatever that is.

Anyway, I just thought I'd like to hear the responses from some of the guys about Bin Stupid's tape recorded message that was playing in the news offering a truce to EU countries if they pulled out of all Muslim nations, that's all. I wasn't trolling or trying to start anything bad.

Admittedly, some of the threads that I have started on this board have dealt with controversial subjects for which I feel passionately about, but I have NEVER intentionally tried to start a fight. I know that you know this, but I'm sure others think I'm just a trouble maker.

Personally, I find most of the threads on this board somewhat boring (no offense). Most of the threads on this board don't ellicit any desire in me to contribute.

I'd rather engage in a discussion/debate having some substance. Many of the threads on this board are meant to entertain. I get bored easily with that, so I start something that interests me and ellicits cerebral responses from people. To me, whether I agree with them or not, those discussions are far more interesting. Its just too bad that some of them get heated. But passion is good, I think. I love to hear what passionate people think about interesting subjects.

Some think that my threads are innappropriate for this board. But I'd rather engage in controversial/devisive issues here than on the air. Its extremely difficult to find discussion partners on the air who can agree to disagree without becoming disagreeable. So I come here to have those discussions. And if somebody gets disagreeable here, I don't have to dress them down for getting personal here. But I can't shed that responsibility on the air. I just won't participate that way on the air. It hurts ham radio because it sets a bad example. And if I tell a combative ham to hit the road for bad behavior, he is likely to tell me to !@#$$%%^^&amp;*&amp;, which only makes matters worse. But when I come here, amateurs seem to respond to Glen's warnings. If a LID gets out of line here, Glen gives them the boot and locks them out. I can't do that on ham radio. LIDS don't respond on the air because you can't lock them out. They just continue to be disruptive and there's nothing one can do about it.

Anyway, nice to hear you my friend.

Trust me, I didn't start anything here. Just trying to have an intelligent conversation about a world concern.

And I notice that the more I pipe up in my thread, the faster it dies. My Contesters thread I started last fall might still be going if I didn't post some angry posts. So I think a guy stifles his own thread. It puts it out of rhythm, or changes the atmosphere or mood of the thread or something. Just need to let it &quot;Take a life of it's own&quot;, and don't squash the mood.

I go in for my carpoles tunnel operation on Wednesday, so I'm starting to pace the floor now. There's something about me being cut open that I don't like....

I've noticed the same thing. One can start a thread, but continuing to post in one's own thread stifles it.

Another thing I've noticed....if a man makes a definitive statement with any authority of conviction, he is considered by most to be &quot;intolerant&quot;, &quot;rude&quot;, &quot;brash&quot;, &quot;inflexible&quot;, and an &quot;insufferable know it all&quot;.

And if that same man can make a convincing argument in support of his original definitive statement, then he is considered by most to be.....well......unmentionable!

To really be popular in a debate, one can never be definitive. Every element of the debate must be NEGOTIABLE. In other words, there can never be a clear winner in any debate. If so, then all the losers in the debate become the enemies of the winner.

So, one has to make a choice early on. To be popular and accepted, or reviled.....to have legs of iron, or feet of clay.....to be well rooted, or be blown by every wind of desent.

Its about core beliefs and how a man views himself in relation to them. Is the man more important than his beliefs, or are the beliefs more important than the man who holds them?

Don't sweat the surgery, you should be wide awake during all of it. Last year I had the lazer type on both hands, I was using my hands and fingers like crazy 2 days later. Best insurance money I ever spent.
