He was so great a ham: (you add your part here)
Such as:
He was so great a ham he could copy RTTY in his head.
He could speak Packet without a TNC.
When he drove through town all the towers bowed down
to him. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
When he tuned up on 20, the whole band stood by.
They gave him his own page in the callbook.
#911 operators called him for help! (This actually happened)
#The FCC called him everyday to see if he was happy with band allocations.
#OK.... Your turn

He was so great a ham -- that the grits tasted better when he was around
He was so great a Ham that all the TVs in his block carried his signal... and the neighbors thanked him for it!

That they named a new license class for him.
They made him a DXCC country by himself wherever he went.
They named a new CW character for him.
The FCC gave him his own frequency.
Every new rig made had a position on the band switch #
that went right to his frequency.

He was so Great A Ham Operator that:
When you looked up Ham Operator in the dictionary, they just showed his picture.
Dayton Hamfest was moved to his Birthday!
When he called the FCC and complained about BPL interference, the FCC made the power company take down all the power lines for 10 miles, bury them, and discontinue BPL forever. Worldwide! WOW!
Space aliens landed in his yard to learn the latest improvements in radio technology.
Electrons lined up in queues to jump off his antenna wires!

He was so great a ham that always, no matter what time of day, point of the sunspot cycle, time of year, or condition of any band, he was ALWAYS 599 TO WHOMEVER HE WORKED!.........oh wait a second....that was me in the last contest! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

He was so a Great Ham that:
His SWR never exceeded 1:1. No matter what he tried to load.
He could pick a rare DX call out of a pileup while fast asleep.
He got QSL cards from the Mars Rovers.
He got QSL cards from other galaxies. With green stamps.
(or maybe that is supposed to be "Little Green Man Stamps)
#If he even said "CQ DX" in passing or in a conversation, he created a pileup.
# All the airplanes navigated by his antenna farm.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif what ever happened to the folks that used to go to the radio towers and plant KUDZU in the middle of the night under the full moon ?
He was so great a ham that everybody could pick up his EME signals on their rubber-duck equipped handhelds !
He was so great a ham that computer users world wide used his SSTV images for their wallpaper !
He was so great a ham that the A.R.R.L board of directors came to him for answers to all the great problems facing the amateur community today ! ( ya, right, sure they did ! )

Maybe this is the opposite of what you wanted..
But he was such a great ham that___
" when he was on the air you had to wonder who was running Hell in his absence."

EP:
No one plants Kudzu, it just appears out of nowhere! Now, the states of Alabama and Georgia are doing a good job of eliminating it at least along the roadways.

Yes indeed, those are progressive states that have real chain gangs working on the sides of the roads again. We need more of that. Don't just GIVE them food, make them WORK for it. If only things were like that here in NJ . . .
Don Wallace was indeed quite a great ham. I have his biography here. it's simply amazing.
And I knew a guy who could copy 60wpm Murray RTTY in his head. I watched him do it, many times.

He was so great a ham that instead of knocking newer or lower class licensees he actually encouraged them to continue the traditions of the service and encouraged them to learn as much as they can about theory and proper operating practices beyond just what's on the test. He was so great a ham that he actually offered solutions instead of more problems.

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Hey, let's not start another K1MAN discussion. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Do not forget to write your anti-BPL letters,
encourage new amateur radio participation and generally be nice
to one another. That is all.
