Hi #This morning when I woke up, I found a pair of rabbit ears for 80 meters. #Hi!
#I hope others were also fortunate. Maybe some of you got an Eggs-tra class license?

My 12 yr old son, who thinks ham radio is the goofiest most senseless waste of time, noticed that the antennas just installed on the roof of my Ford Ranger pickup look like rabbit ears.
I hate to admit it, but he's right. Pics to follow when the install is completely done.
Rabbit ears . . .geez. I thought they went out with cable. Anyone remember the tin foil bunched up on them to make them work "better?" My stepfather (worthless, useless piece of garbage that he was) swore the tin foil made them work so much better.
Yeah, uh huh. He had issues . . .

Q. Why does the Easter Bunny hide his eggs?
A. 'Cause he doesn't want anybody to know he's "doing" a CHICKEN! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Hasn't anybody besides me ever wondered what in the world does a bunny and colored eggs have anything whatsoever to do with the resurrection of Christ?
Just wondering out loud.
EBM
It's actually from the original pagan celebration of 'Eastre', celebrated primarily by the Saxxons.
It was to celebrate the return of spring and the eggs symbolize fertility. #The rabbit was the earthly avatar of the Goddess Eastre, (for whom the holiday was named.)
It was in fact the Germans who brought the celebration of Easter to America, shortly after the Civil War, before which it was largely ignored.
The introduction of Christianity into the Eastre celebration was in large part thanks to the Catholic missionaries who encountered the early Saxxons, and attempted to 'ease' their transition into Christianity by integrating their holidays and customs, into the Christian holidays.
Thus, Eastre, became Easter.

Very good DYA!
I'm very impressed. Not many Chistians have the courage to admit that we mix the resurrection of the Savior of the World with pagan rituals and mythical gods.
Now please tell us all why we Christians STILL celebrate Easter, pagan worship, on the most Holy Day for Christianity, the resurrection of the Christ?
Good luck with that one!
Why do we continue to mix Christ with a pagan god?
Why does it not sicken the heart of every true Christian to see the day of His resurrection paganized?
We say that we are Christians, but we are still so blind that we cannot see the blasphemy of going to an Easter Sunday Sunrise Service, which is nothing short of absolute paganism, having absolutely NOTHING to do with Christ.
Why do those of us who know and love the Truth still mix the Truth with lies and blasphemy?
The reality of Christ, His resurrection, and His work of redemption has been known and passionatly studdied for nearly 2000 years, and YET, we still don't understand enough to sweep paganism out of our worship of Him.
How will we even be able to face Him when we see Him?
Thanks DYA for having the faith and the courage to tell it straight. You are a blessing to me, and you have made my day.

Tom, I greatly appreciate the praise, but I don't feel it's deserved as I'm not a Christian.
I hope it doesn't matter, and based on what I've seen from you, I'm sure it won't. I just don't want to deceive you or anyone else.
I'm not an athiest, or agnostic or anti-Christian or anything like that, and I'm not trying to start a flame war. I just didn't want you to be mistaken about me.
73 OM,
Brent
Only on QRZ.COM, can a flame war get started over the celebration of Easter !
"The Lord is Risen! ! " Come on, fellow Believers, you know the response to that greeting !
http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
73 from Jim AG3Y ( in case you don't it is, " He is Risen, INDEED ! )
NONONO. #No flame war, seriously!
I just felt it was wrong to allow Tom (and anyone else actually) to continue thinking I'm a Christian. #I wasn't bashing anyone, I wasn't being snide in ANY way. #I just felt that Tom, in particular, deserved the truth.
That's ALL guys. #NO flames from me!
(And I caught the 'He is risen indeed.'. #Excellent series of books, I just finished the last one and have started the political spin-off of that series.)

I wonder how Jesus would have come down on the know/no-code debate?
"DYA?"
No offense, but I am reminded of the abb CYA from many years past.

DYA,
I can't see anything provocative in any of your posts. No need to apologize to me.
However, given your knowledge about the REAL meaning of Easter (Estre), it was just natural for me to assume (there's that word again) that you were a Christian.
Please forgive me for jumping to conclusions. And thank you for being honest and thinking enough of me not to allow me to remain incorrect in my assumption.
Keep up the GOOD work with the youngins.

It's all good!

I can say I went to Am service and thats that, then I took my wife out to dinner the kids picked up eggs at church , so whats wrong with that ?
I usually find a self proclaimer is usually one holds a Bible Study in his house cause he was booted out of church or got a Pastors card on line someplace.
but since this is Amateur Radio I'll stop here Sheesh! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
AB8RU, why the attack on Tom?
He brings up a VERY valid point, and one no one seems to argue when it comes to the celebration of Halloween by Christians.

Perhaps a self proclaimer is someone who is merely secure in their convictions. This usually stems from an examined faith, which is something more people should experience.
I don't understand why you would attack Tom for this, and honestly, I feel you owe him an apology.

Jimminy Crickets!!
I started this topic as basically a Happy Easter post!
The title said "Happy Easter! Nothing serious here"
That went to heck in a short while didn't it?
I guess it could have turned into a code/no-code, tech upgrade battle.
#Looks like Christions/Lions/Moslems/Pagans/Buddists/Atheists/cultists forum now.
By the way don't they all sound like good names for professional sports teams?
It might be weird if they were football teams. I can just hear it now, the Moslems have the pigskin (!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif on the 30 yard line, and the Pagans are putting up their Stonehenge defense. #
#The Lions are eating up some of the Christian yardage!
#Geez! #I just can't wait until Mayday!
#Come on, can't we all just pick on the environmentalists and greenies and have some fun!

Interesting...I have been looking a thread dynamics for quite sometime now to get a toe hold on how this works.
It appears that the original poster does yield the original lobe design of the thread. Then, what I tend to call first responders, or the first five follow up posters tend to determine the height of the thread content, which does determine its propagation characteristics.
Since I was a first responder in this case with the depress-o-matic "My dogs have eaten the bunny and the children cried" reponse, it tended to pull the tone way down. I do apologize for that. I sort of NVIS'd your original post.
Anyway, the data is still being reviewed and it may be possible to predict thread propagation in future years, but it still is not much of a science to date.
Looking forward to MayDay postings..maybe the board cycles will be up a bit.
Seriously now...Happy post Easter or Easter post or whatever.

This is good civic duty. We should all stand by and listen for mayday postings, especially since the USCG no longer monitors 500kH for the outmoded mode (you know the one...)

I am wondering. Can you put that in mathematical notation?
I remember the "Depress-0-Matic". You used to be able to get them through the late night infomercials.
"You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll contemplate creative suicide! Be the first on your block to depress all your friends. Don't be the only happy one left in the crowd. Join us! With the fabulous Depress-0-Matic you can depress entire crowds at once. You'll be the life-sucking center of the party.
Remember, almost all the famous painters and artists through history have been known for their intense depressions. Now you too, can experience the black hole of helplessness and despair. Maybe you can find your hidden talents through the miracle of our greatest new product! The Amazing "Depress-0-Matic!" #
#I always meant to buy one, but I was just too unhappy to deal with it at the time.
#I just can't wait until Mayday. Instead of ribbons on the Maypole, I can see some nice copper wires. It starts out looking like a cage dipole and ends up looking like a bifilar wound choke!
#And just after that we have Cinco de Mayo....
#Life is just one long happy celebration.
#I wonder...will the no-code Generals make the day they get HF into a holiday?
# And what to call it? They'll probably want to call it something like "Independence Day or Freedom Day" But I think they should call it something like "Bubba" or Maybe, JUST MAYBE, we can get the FCC to open the bands up on October the 4th.
That way it can always be remembered as "10-4".

Personally, the reaction in my case is going to be "ok, now I can check into the CBN on 3960," and that's about it.
And I have the CSCE on the wall for element 3. I'll likely go for element 1 in a month or two.
Meanwhile, in another thread it was mentioned you had a qsl backlog? Might tend to that..
NOT an attack, Glen http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
