What do you think?...Watching the NHL Playoffs right now (a repeat of an earlier game since its so late) and a commercial for nhl.com played. What struck my eye was the possible ham radio tower in the background.

Its the commercial that begins "..Ever wonder how people got stats before nhl.com?...". When it shows the picture of a retro type house, if you look on the far right side you can observe a slender tower. Anyone else observe this? Maybe I'm just up too late again...

What is NHL? Is it a new mode of operation?

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif in that case the NHL might mean
NO
HAM
LICENSE
or in simple terms ( citizens band )... the only HF band that does not require a 5 word per minute MORSE CODE test, with units and antennas available at wal-mart, yard sales, some out-of-date radio shack stores, truck stops, etc.....soo...if you want to transmit on HF ( below 30 mhz ), go get your self a C B radio.

This is why that nitwit on ESPN radio can and will get away with badmouthing hams. Apparently a vast majority of hams are not sports fans. That little fact contributes to our overall reputation as a bunch of nerds. Ah well.

The above posts are a little . . . ummmm . . . I dunno. I've been put down on the air for being a sports fan. Hockey really, but . . .

I'm sure you folks know what NHL stands for. And it has nothing to do with yet MORE CB bashing.

Ugh.

Ah, Chris, don't you think maybe you take some things a bit too seriously?
I suspect some folks poke fun at you, not because you are a sports fan, but because... uh, I dunno.
Frying CBers around these parts is more than a mere pastime—CBers are to these threads what crawfish are to Cajuns: that is to say, they are the objects of &quot;tough love.&quot;

Those NHL.com commercials are funny. During the season, they kept showing one with these two old guys sitting around a reciever listening to Morse Code of all things. The punch line was something about finding a faster way to keep up with the scores. I'm a CW operator, and I thought it was one of the funniest commercials that I've seen.
I must also count myself in as one of the sports fans on this thread, and I think I watched probably 60 percent of the Avalanche games this season. Therefore, that being said, GO AVS!!!!!!

<span style='color:red'>AW SHUCKS!</span> I thought NHL stood for Nighttime Ham License, meaning you could only operate at night http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
