A New Jersey restaurant is facing a $10,000 fine from the FCC for
operating transmitting equipment on 2 meters without a license. The case
involves Best Wok in Westville, which apparently had been using a
so-called "long-range cordless telephone" to communicate with its delivery
vehicle. The FCC says the telephone in question--said to have been
obtained outside the US and not FCC certificated--operated within the
2-meter satellite subband at 145.8376 MHz. Acting on a tip, the FCC
conducted an investigation that resulted in the February 26 issuance of a
Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (NAL) to Best Wok.

This is "old news"! It was discussed on this forum several weeks ago. The latest topics of discussion are the truckers who have been "busted" by the FCC and are posted on the ARRL website within the past couple of days.

It appears that there were 4 for 10 meter operation, one in Oregon, 2 in South Carolina and one in North Carolina. Some one go check and see if I am wrong, and if so, post the correct information below here. ---ai4ep---

It's about time that Riley got after that perverted Cat-Dog couple!
It wasn't that long ago that I remember seeing some of these 2meter cordless phones for sale on ebay.
They were listed as high power phones but when you did a search and came up with the specs you found that they were right in the 2M band.

I don't know if I would use the term " Busted" regarding the warning letters sent by the FCC,
When I read, ( if it ever comes to pass) where they have actually been fined, and equipment confiscated, then I will agree with busted.
At least the letters are a start in the right direction, but we're not there yet.

Do not forget to write your anti-BPL letters,
encourage new amateur radio participation and generally be nice
to one another. That is all.
