Yes, this is old news. This has smade the rounds last moth and is making another circuit. Never open email file attachments unless you know the sender and know an attachment is going to be sent to you.

MRX:

Common problem with various viruses "spoofing" E-Mails as being from someone else. Unfortunately, happens all the time!

Now, please turn off your "caps lock". It is MUCH easier to read postings that use normal capitalization (not all lower case nor all upper case).

Thanks

For the last few weeks and quite a few this last week, I have been getting msgs from people, nonhams, either in reply to a message I supposedly have sent or some form of Auto-reply message from mail boxes or anti-virus software. I forget now which virus the messages from the AV software indicated was in the messages, but I know I have not sent messages to any of the people who were replying to me in one form or another. It looks like to me that someone that has my email address in their address book has a virus and for awhile the virus is spoofiing my address for the sender. I have no clue who it is or how to get hold of them. About all you or I can do is ride it out and hope the virus gets cleared out and the nonsense stops. Good luck but I wouldn't worry about it, just keep your anti-virus software updated and probably install a good firewall and as several have said, don't open attachments unless they come from someone you trust, the name of the attachment sounds right and you are expecting it. An unexpected file from someone you know could still be a virus with a spoofed sender name.

Yup, that happened to me last week. I got an email from one of the local hams, and it was a virus. Thankfully Norton booted it's a$$.

If the perpetrator is reading, try again, sucker. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
