I have a Yaseu FT-100D, purchased 13 months ago from an dealer near St. Joeseph Michigan....

One touch to the outside cover, while the radio was closed and properly grounded distroyed the display!

The dealer made it sound like it was my fault and was NO HELP AT ALL..... Guess I should buy from the mail order places from now on....

Anyone need an FT-100D with a bad display? The radio works great, just can not tell what frequency, mode, etc without some good guessing?

Would be great for a computer controll only Rig!

It sounds like there must be more to this story. LCD displays are not particularly static sensitive. I've had an FT-100D in regular use for several years with no problems and no ground system available.

Was that the first time you touched it in 13 months?

While I realize this is of no direct help, I used to design microwave ovens, and test (but not design) touch control panels. I had an a-c HV prod, maybe like a cattle prod, that would throw sparks about 2". I would require the control to work properly while the prod was shooting sparks anyplace on the panel or frame. It was also good for getting rid of the tax collector----- http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
