With the seemingly inexorable progress of BPL, aided and abetted by the politicians who run the FCC, hand-keyed CW may soon be the only reliable means of non-computerized communication within the HF bands. If nothing else this should certainly provide an incentive for all those no-coders out there to master what could become once more an essential skill for radio operators.

CW is the most reliable mode NOW. We are at the lower end of the solar cycle. I can tune through the phone portions of a particular band and not here a thing. Then tune through the CW portion and work DX. You don't even need a signal to work them. Morse code with no reading on the s meter is as easy to copy as a S9 sig. You can't say that with phone.

Careful Dave!

If you state you like and use CW you might end up on some assinine list, or be considered an "elitest" because you learned CW!

I too use CW and enjoy it! I use other modes as well though.

Me too... I love CW!

Had my first really interactive CW QSO this weekend. The other guy was a patient speed keyer who slowed down to 20WPM to chat with me.

Also had a really nice QSO with a guy at about 7WPM too. He was getting back into CW after a long absence.

If you're tired of the SSB free for all, pick up your key and join the fun!
