View Full Version : The WORST Experience Ever...Bar None!!!!
My control box for my Yaesu Rotor G-1000SDX failed. Called Vertex Standard (YAESU REPAIR CENTER) in CA on March 1st, 2004. Was told that a B Stock rotor control could be shipped to me for $65.00 plus shipping, or I could purchase a new control box from them. I choose the B Stock unit, and was told that it was in very nice condition. I gave my CC info, and shipping info. Requested 2nd Day Air UPS so I could be back up and running for the contest this weekend. No problem, the order was placed. March 3rd, 2004 UPS drives right by my shop! Called Vertex Standard back. Was told that their was some "red tape" about the control box, but relax it'll go out, if not today by tomorrow. I explained the urgent need for this to go out today, and I’ll pay for Overnight Shipping, I have to have this. No problem I was told. March 4th, 2004. UPS shows up, but no control box. Called Vertex Standard back once again. Now I told that I can't purchase the control box, not even an A Stock (new) unit. But I'm told maybe they can resolve it by this afternoon. Told them I'd resolve it by buying one, someplace else, which I did. Bottom line, find another place for repair or parts. They’ll promise you everything, and deliver nothing. Which is EXACTLY what I got, NOTHING!

Wait until you get the credit card bill . . . then you can tell us how you REALLY feel.

Very interesting.
I sell land mobile two-way and got some very interesting news the other day.
My Vertex-Standard rep just quit.
He signed on as my new Icom rep.
Now I think I might be able to see why.

You've got every right to be angry, I sure would be. I'd probably call them up and have a few choice words to share with them. I'll never bother trying to deal with that company.

Guys, I have not heard many great things about Vertex Standard and I have since avoided doing any further business with them when it comes to V/UHF radios.
Case in point is my dad's Yaesu mobile that eventually replaced the 8500. I can't precisely remember if it was an 8100 so I am not going to say for sure. He has had trouble with it twice now after getting it back from their repair center and may stick with Kenwood and Icom from here on out. I think I may become an Icom regular now since I am hearing more horror stories.
Yaesu has taken a real nosedive in recent years and sadly I am becoming more disappointed in them. I don't know if this has to do with Vertex Standard or not. I will still treasure my FT-51R and FT-8500 since both have never failed me yet (pre Vertex Standard???). Not sure if and when Yaesu changed some things or was bought out, but ever since that time I have not heard many positive things.
I like the HF rigs, but are they having problems with those too? If so, then those are out of the question as well (reluctantly).
I only own 2 pieces of Yaesu equipment, and you can bet I'll not own anymore. I'm going to Dayton again this year, and will make it a point to voice my frustration in their booth. On the other hand, my experience with Kenwood Service (East) has been fantastic. Vertex Standard needs to take a lesson from KW on customer service.
