Question? Is he aware of it? In this day and age he could be and not even know it.

It could also not be him but another computer spoofing his return address. Don't be so quick to issue "warnings" against someone.

Some viruses (virii?) take random names from the infected computer's address book and make that the return address for the mail.

Things like this are best handled in private - a quick note to the offender telling him he might want to do a virus scan because you received a virus from his e-mail address would be in order.

And for those of you who do not have a virus scanner on your computer, there is one online. I always send this link with messages like that:

Trend Micro Online Virus Scanner (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/)

Jack KE3WV lives one mile down the street from me!

As mentioned in another reply, the message probably has a forged address. Do not blame Jack -- he's not the kind of guy to deliberately spread a virus!

It isn't from him. It was spoofed. The @arrl.net adresses can not possibly have email sent from them. They are just an alias that redirects your incoming email to your regular account. The spammers and hackers can use that alias to hide behind. And they could be hiding three or four computers or more down the chain.

Do not assume that a virus was sent by the address you see on the email.

The best defense is a good offence:

Use a good virus scanner, keep it updated, and always have it running full time when on the net. Never check unscanned Email.

There is nothing that will give 100% protection, but this should keep you 99% safe.

People who spread "warnings" like this should just shut off their computers and NEVER EVER turn them on again. Its obviously too much trouble to read the many references on viruses or even listen to a news report.

Also makes ya wonder who'd choose a vanity with the suffix KKK.
