To get off the subject of the ARRL proposal.....

This morning's trivia queston was:

Who made the only stand-alone 80 to 10 meter kilowatt transceiver for amateur use?

Hallicrafters
Hammarlund
Clegg
Heathkit

Of course Hallicrafters did produce one, but I think National did also (NCX-1000?) There was also one produced in the early 50s which was really a box containing a seperate receiver and kilowatt transmitter, but the name escapes me.
Anyone know of any others?

The Hallicrafters SR-2000 was an 'all in one box' 2KW transceiver.

I always wanted one.. along with a NCX-5, Hq-170/180C,

DRAKE TWINS (C-line, natch!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif and a complete Collins and Heath station..

Did manage to accumulate the complete Drake C line and accessories and the Heathkit line.. so 2 out of 6 ain't bad!

Steve,

Well they are pretty rare and if a CBer did get one what do you think will happen with the first attempt at tune up?

I don't know about this particular question, but have noticed a significant number of the trivia questions have wrong answers. #There should be a submit correction button on the trivia page. #Unfortunately, that could be a lot of work for the editors.

Steve,

If they are on eBay, then they are NOT invading 10M, posting trollnotes here, or putting out unwanted RF on 27 MHz!
