Hi,
I was thinking of trying an icom 756 for a while and maybe trading my ft1000mp,I would be interested in any comments from people with maybe one of each in their shack,or those who have had both.

Cheers...dont ask me why !

M0DAJ,
Well I am not familiar with the 775 but 756proll is not a top of the line, it is a middle class, only has 3 IF's if I recall correctly and the 1000MP I think is second #to one of the other 1000 series #rigs #(the exact number escapes me at the moment).
I have a KW TS 950 SDX which I use as the main rig and my IC 756 Proll is my secondary back up rig. I hear word that there is a heat problem that has developed with the 756 and there is some question whether Icom will stand behind it( nothing factual as yet only schuttle butt ) I have had no problem with mine but then again it is a back up so it gets not a lot of operating time. BTW the TS 950SDX was a top of the line before it went out of production. Some of the more serious Hams have on their web site data taken from lab tests where you can compare performance between the rigs. And of course ARRL puts out a book listing the rigs and the comparisions. # #Lots of luck hope this helps...73, # ORV

I have had both the pro and ft1000mp, I was not overly impressed with either one due to key clicks and overall operation in the neighborhood of strong sigs. I agree with the other fellow the 950sdx would be the way to go. I operated one for 24 hours once during a contest and loved the rig. I think KW made a big boo-boo by pulling this baby off the shelf, especially given what they now have as a product line. My advice would be to keep the yaesu until you can located a good 950sdx and grab on it and never let go.

If you can find an SDX used, but nice, get it. I am using one myself, and it is never leaving the shack. I very much like the receiver in it, which has got to be one of the best receivers on the market.
