From the ARRL DX Bulletin:

"LAKSHADWEEP ISLAND, VU7. Members of the Bangalore Amateur Radio Club (VU2ARC) and a small group of amateur radio volunteers will be active as VU7M from Minicoy Island (AS-106, WFF VU-103, ARLHS LAK009 and IND017 from August 13 to 22. QSL direct or via the Bureau. "

I need this one DESPERATELY, but with sunspots sucking as bad as they do, this will be almost an impossibility! Lotsa Luck on this one!!! I am going to start PRAYING!!! This is as far as you can get on the other side of the world and will make the 7O6T look like a Chip Shot!

The prop is similar to that of VU or 4S7, both of which have a pretty consistent path at expected times during the day. Not sure what kind of ops these folks are of what antennas they will have but previous operations from there have been "popular" but not that difficult to work.
I'm having difficulty making the distinction between something someone "needs" and "desperately needs". Isn't that redundant?

"Easy to work" is a relative term.

For those on the east coast, that might be true, from the west coast, it's a different story.

They were on this morning on 14003. Couldn't hear them here in the NW but Europeans and some JAs were calling them.

I saw the announcement about it some time ago. Sounds like it will be a very modest operation. I am not expecting much from it.
I never even HEARD the last guys that went there.

So far, NO SPOTS WHATSOEVER from Stateside. Only JA and EU.

CORRECTION, some States were worked around 2200 on 20CW

With the beam back in the air, snagged D64K on the first call so maybe there is hope for this one...IF I can ever hear them :)

Honestly, every VU expedition I have ever heard has always been marginal and usually a poorly run expedition....IMHO and from my personal experience....haven't tried for this one yet....

why are you saying its poorly run ???

The said it was going to be a low key, low power simple expedition, its not T32C or HK0NA and the never said there aim was 200k QSO's and 24 stations QRV around the clock.

Its a few VU's activating some lighthouse that happens to be a Rare DXCC and IOTA.

The bands are in the crapper as the summer doldrums have not cleared which will make any long distance DX hard work nevermind one running 40w in to a low dipole

Our DXers in SDG reported East Coast was working them on 17SSB at about 2100 today. NO HOPE for West Coast. But SOME East Coasters are in the log. Maybe someone will go there when we have SUNSPOTS again someday, (If I live that long!). Looks like this Cycle is a BUST!
