Hi,

I have the required driver installed and follow the instructions to the tee but I get the following error message: "The connected IC9100 cannot update".

I checked the firmware version in my IC9100 by holding F4 and F5 then switching on and I got the following information:

F: 3.01-000 DM: 3.02(00)
DS: 3.03(00)

Apparently people are expecting:

"F 301-00, M 3.42-E00, DM 3.03 (00), DS 3.04 (00)" or something along these lines. I do not even have the "M" bit and am not sure what it represents.

I am in the process of contacting ICOM. Has anybody had similar issues just in case?

Thanks

As a follow-up, I got the answer to my question. Although I live in Japan and bought my ic-9100 in Japan I contacted ICOM America for ease of communication in english. Icom America still kindly agreed to figure out the reason for me (thanks Gregg) despite being very busy. They basically found out that the japanese equivalent of the FCC (MIC) does not authorize radios to have an upgradeable firmware which is why the M 3.42-E00 (main firmware) was missing from my settings. It is locked on purpose to follow local rules. I am a bit bummed but that's life. The upside of buying it in Japan on the other hand was that the D-Star module was included by default. So my case was quite specific. Wish I could figure out how to get registered on dstar in japan now.... :-)
