Ive been wondering about the Icom ID-1 digital radio, is it really worth the price? is any1 into digital, id liek to get this radio, but could some1 give me some reviews on reply, thanks

It depends on where you live. In a metro area such as NYC or DC I'd say go even if the digital infrastructure hasn't been installed yet. There are 1.2 GHz analog machines in these areas now. It would make for a great club machine if the group had enough members to spread the cost of the repeaters and associated equipment out and they were into ARES and/or RACES.
I see it as a major step forward for Hams to provide emergency communications to municipalities on what apprears to be a more "professional level".
Given the first opprotunity, I plan on putting up a D-Star repeater here in Hampton Roads Virginia.
