I have had a TS-570D for over a year and have loved it. I just purchased an Icom IC756Pro2 which is a superior rig in many ways but the Kenwood at much less money has several desireable features. For instance I prefer the quick memo features of the 570. It saves the settings for both VFO's with the power, cw keyer speed etc that the Icom rig doesn't. I also really like the digital speed setting for power and keying speed.
I have had excellent luck in every way with the rig. I wish it had more noise control features and I wish I could adjust the passbands more but for the price it is an excellent buy.
Go get one and enjoy!

Steve, NF6V,
TKU for your comments.
I'm using KENWOOD TS-450 which is borrowed form my friend, and I'm going to buy the JRC JST-145 or KENWOOD 570D. I cann't make the decision. I'm using the Diamond W-8010 antanna.
My QTH is in Beijing, CHINA. and I am a starter on HF band, and I have been to San Francisco the end of last yr.
Welcom to Beijing

I got a TS-570 in November '03. I'm using it with a HyGain 14AVQ vertical, and no linear. It's not an all-singing all-dancing contest rig, but if you operate a few hours a week, and give away the odd contest point it's ideal.
The quick-mem is very useful, as is th A/B VFO. A good addition is the digital voice recording unit for automating contest CQ calls etc.
The rear sockets point towards ease of operating on RTTY and PSK etc.
Recommended!

I have bought and sold about 10 TS-570 in the last year and used each one for a few weeks both mobile and base. #Right now, I own a TS-570S(G) that I use both mobile and base. #With it beside my Icom 761 and switching the same antenna, the 761 can hear stations the 570 doesn't even know are there so I am a little dissapointed but I plan to keep the 570 for mostly mobile use. #The controlls are very well laid out and the large display is great for mobile and of course the built in tuner makes multi-band mobiling an ease (I use a 20 year old Pro-Am spider for 40 thru 6). #It can only take one optional filter and I use the narrow SSB one and may sell it because I can't really see that it makes that much difference - I have never been in a situation where the narrow filter made a great difference - with the dual DSP controls and I.F. shift I can usually make the sound pleasing to my ears. #There are many other features that I like about this rig - dual antenna inputs, easy menu navigating, lots of memories that are tuneable, smooth tuning knob with finger indent, and more. #Overall, for its price on the used market I think this is a pretty good rig (I usually dont keep a radio very long but think this 570 will be with me for awhile). #73 de Jim K4LIX
I'm using my second TS-570DG and have decided that its a fairly good rig for the SSB operator but it leaves lots to be desired for us CW guys. #The rig does have a lot of nice features - you know about them. #So, I'll just whine a bit about some of the things I don't like about it, not necessarily in order of importance to me. #I'm thinking about going back to my old TS-430S for the manual notch filter, if nothing else. #The 570 has an auto notch filter which works on SSB but does distort the receive audio - it doesn't work on CW. #The noise blanker leaves a lot to be desired - it distorts audio, too, especially on strong CW signals. #But, the main reason the rig has to go is the keying problem. #Others have mentioned this in their reviews. #At times the radio will insert its own character when on CW, usually a long dash. #It doesn't matter if I'm using an external keyer, the internal keyer or a straight key. #I got rid of my older radio and got a newer one, hoping Kenwood had corrected that known problem - no luck. #I have e-mailed Kenwood twice asking for information on a fix and have been ignored. #So, the final answer is: #I can recommend the TS-570DG as a medium priced rig for the SSB operator but advise against it for the CW op.
