SOBARS, the South Bay Amateur Radio Society, an active ham radio club with members from San Diego, National City, La Mesa, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, Bonita, and San Ysidro, California will join with thousands of Amateur Radio operators who will be showing off their emergency capabilities June 23-24, 2012.
In the Chula Vista area, SOBARS will be demonstrating Amateur Radio Saturday, June 23, from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 P.M. at the Chula Vista Yacht Club, 640 Marina Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. They invite the public to come and see ham radio’s capabilities and learn how to get their own FCC radio license before the next disaster strikes.
A new feature for SOBARS this year will be the use of networked Field Day logging software. Networked software avoids duplicate contacts that occur when operators inadvertently work the same bands.
