I think it would be cheap at half the price.
Go ahead Glen( K9STH ) throw a bid out there; should be pocket change for an old retired Collins man.
It's an old Titan I site...............for sale cheap !!
Guaranteed to make you station still alive after a nuke, including fall out!!

Those old military sites are usually so overrun with hazardous wastes that they are impractical for anything. Not all I'm sure, but the military wasn't known for being the most ecologically sound group of folks.
I think the $25,000 AT&T microwave sites were fun to ponder. And most of them had HUGE towers - talk about perfect for hams!
Ah well, fun fun. I admit reading that ebay listing just now daydreaming away, touring the site in my mind as I read it.
Would sure make a good outhouse! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

CAW:
You got me confused with Bill, W0LPQ! I only worked for Collins Radio for two years right out of college! Bill recently retired from Collins Radio.

Well Glen,
Anybody who has worked for Collins and Motorola, the cadillacs of radio, has got to be well off.
I worked for The big Bat wing company, and it was the most enjoyable 6 years of my career(s). Being retired now, I did not have a better employer in my 43 years of "electronics" working. Motorola is arrogant, proud, and ignorant of the rest of the industry, but makes money in spite of that fact.
As one person was asked, " Who will by your radio for 4.5 million?". He answered " I can make money easily...........I only need to sell one!!!"
That's Motorola approach to business..........IMHO anyway.
The Titan I layout would make a nice pad. Especially for those that want to exist after a nuke hits. I'm not sure I would want to.
There was an article about a small town that had an important military facility, that might be a nuke target. They said they would rather be directly under the bomb and instantly gone, than to be farther away from it. Interesting thought.

Don't have to go through Ebay. Get it straight from the real estate agent. They have improved sites ($1.2mil, 19 acres fenced, 56,000 sq ft, multiple living areas, 4 car garage, and the 3000 amp service is still in place although disconnected. Ought to run a few radios. And all hazardous waste/abestoes has been removed. Oh, yes, a 750Kw backup generator too.) to a starter silo (10 acres inside high chain-link fence, 40’ X 100’ quanset. but the LLC is partially flooded and electricty is not connected).
20th Century Castles (http://www.missilebases.com/)
Now where did I put that URL for the guy that will convert a 727 into a house? On a stand so that it will weathervane. Although you can control that.
