Channel 191http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif #Man, I've been out of the loop too long. #When did we get more than 13 channels?

BTW, the link does not work.

I believe UHF channels were added in the early '50s.

WH: He stated Dish Network, Channel 191. Not cable TV or off air stuff. Dish is Satellite stuff. Like DirectTV, only different company.

WRQ: UHF did not go to 191...Channel 83 was the end. Now days it ends much lower, thanks to those who think they "need" extra space..! Paging, Trunked Stuff, etc.

That was neat! Sounds like he wants to move the technology forward. Only thing I didn't get.... Who ever heard of a baby monitor in the same spectrum as WiFi?!

I thought the baby monitor thing was a little strange too, but I got the point. #

After the interview it hit me... he talked about freedom and a hands-off approach to regulating spectrum, but this is the same agency that has literally forced digital TV on broadcasters. #In a free-market society, innovation is driven by demand not by legislation, so I'm a little skeptical of Powell. #Look how much bandwith opens up for sale when tv broadcasters go digital. #

I thought it was a good interivew and he seemed to be very knowledgeable and very well-spoken, but a true politician.

There is no stopping this or any Government interests. #Ham radio, automobiles, etc. May not be the young peoples choice either, but money talks and making money is progress.

# # We all need money, even the Government or I should say the entire country. It's onward Ho.

The FCC's main man talks about the challenges of ever-changing communication technology

The one thing that bothered me is that he kept refering to the frequency under WiFi as being unlicensed, it is under Part 15, but part of the 11 channels of 2.4ghz I think 6 of them are in Amateur frequency, he neglected to specify under Part 15, that they can't just run as much power as they want, that it is also a licensed frequency(s) under Amateur use. Also mentioned the additional frequencies, refering to 5.6 ghz for WiFi, which also has amateur allocation.
All people were hearing was "unlicensed" and "unlicensed", the public hears that and we have to deal with the noise floor.....lol, oh well, in some ways the WiFi stuff has helped us , cause we have a source of cheap equipment that can be used for HSMM.

Sadly, I don't get the Screensaver Network, so I was unable to watch the interview. I'm curious as to whether or not Mr. Powell said anything about the Morse Code Issue That's now before the FCC? Did he and if he did what did he say?
