For reference, just where is the U.S.S. North Carolina located? I'll be looking for the call.

Well folks.. I had some really cute looking fake HTML tags in that message. Problem is that the forum accepted them as REAL HTML tags...
Suffice it to say that the above post was created with tongue firmly placed in cheek....

The USS North Carolina is located in Wilmington NC. The Cape Fear River is just west of downtown Wilmington. The USS North Carolina has been in permanent dock there since the early 1960's. The citizens of North Carolina raised money to get it out of moth balls and have it refurbished and brought to Wilmington. One of the fund raisers included the school children from all over the state. The children would bring their loose change to school to help raise the money. I participated in this during my grammer school years. It is with great honor that I participate in the Pearl Harbor week end as we broadcast under the big 16 inch guns aboard the USS North Carolina battleship. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Thanks, Tom for the brief background on the U.S.S. North Carolina. It's helpful to know where the special event station is actually located. It saves a gazillion of us having to lok it up on QRZ, and that savea just a tiny amount of bandwidth.
Good luck to the U.S.S. North Carolina and the special event.
We will be looking for you! Bravo Zulu to all.

Are you just operating for two hours both days?

Good Job Mateys! Please stay on the air as long as possible! I tried to catch the special event station last year but missed it. I want it in my "ships' log". My father served in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, on the navel ship U.S.S. Curtis (AV-4), an aircraft tendor.
He was one of the fortunate ones who came home.
From reservist to active duty, those who serve/have served have given a lot more than many can realize. God bless our military!

We will begin operation both days, Sat and Sun, at 1800Z and work until at least 2000Z, longer if necessary. Most likely we'll be working until 3000Z or 3500Z.

3000Z or 3500Z??? What kind of clock are you using? Mine only has 24 hours.

Would help to know if you're going to be ssb only or if there will be a brass pounder onboard.
Sorry, a long day and a glass of wine and I enter the 4th dimension.
We may work as late as 2100Z or 21500Z, if there is interest.
I'm a brass pounder, but we will only have one transceiver on board so we will be only doing SSB this weekend. However, I plan some CW only days, if possible with the original ships equipment, in the near future.
Look for us around 14.260 Mhz or 7.260 Mhz this weekend.
