Worked a few last night and tonight, with 10w and a Buddipole. Heard Lebanon and Armenia though apparently they did not hear me.

I don't know why, but Armenia can be rough for many. I know it took a long time before I finally got Armenia in my log. When it did finally happen, though, it felt good....one of the more satisfying QSOs I've had!

You can have one heck of a lot of fun with 10w and a Buddipole. Lebanon and Armenia are both possible so keep plugging away at it!

It seem I can frequently find a couple , but this is the 1st time that there were this many and most of them were booming in , I was breaking piles-up with 100w on most of them .
I just though maybe there was something going on , or it got around that the 20m was open :)

20 meters was in beautiful shape here in Maine last night as well. I got Armenia and Lebanon (both new ones for me) last night as well. The nice conditions kept me up way past my bedtime, but it was a lot of fun.

serious DX'ers are on when the DX is up - why are you asleep at 2am local? ;)

Armenia is relatively easy from here. Getting a QSL is a different story.

Hmm. I'm not far from you, but it took me forever despite the fact that I'd long ago worked everything around Armenia. Maybe I was just unlucky. I did manage to get a QSL card, though, so I was lucky in that regard.

I do hear Armenia on the air quite often.. it might just be a matter of timing. I've worked several Armenian stations but have yet to get a single QSL out of one. Maybe I'll luck out and get one with a QSL manager or takes paypal. I've followed all the guidelines and suggestions to try to make my envelope as uninteresting as possible to the folks that might open the mail there but no luck.

I wasn't in bed at 2 am local that night. Felt it the next day at work too. :)

There's an app for the iPhone / phone , turns the DX spot in my filter settings , to an alarm , so when the phone gets a spot I'm looking for , it will ring / wake me up :)
Always looking for ways to have my cake and eat it too .

There you go with the bad attitude , again , brought on by false assumptions again .

what false assumption - you said your phone wakes you up from the packet spots. why not just set your alarm and find them yourself from your vast research of when the DX you need might be on. someone has to spot them for you to know they are there. by the time you get up, the pileup will be massive.

i'm going to spot a bunch of rare ones at 3am your time just to wake you up ;)

This isn't aimed at the OP so don't anybody get their panties twisted.
I wonder how many new hams, post spotting networks, actually know how to chase/work DX without relying on the internet/packet clusters.
It means turning the big knob and listening rather than relying on what someone else has posted, often times erroneously.

I find that hard core DXers use the cluster moreso than newbies.

Newbies tend to tune around and find DX. Problem is, after 100 countries it gets harder to find all time new ones. After 200 countries even more so. After 300? Fuhgeddaboudit. You'll be watching the DX bulletins every day.

Now you know how hard the guys who have worked all countries! We have to wait when DXAC add a new entity to DXCC list. What will be #341????
