I've been looking at the newest version of the Icom 756 Pro II. ( I think that's the latest version ) My questions are of course; what do users think of the radio and why does it seem to loose so much value, ie: $2200 to $2500 new and under $1000 used ?? Being an old air force radio tech, I love the display with the spectrum analyzer, but is this the only radio that has such a display?
Much Appreciated.

I don't think the ProII is under $1,000 used...it is the Pro which many people got rid of when the II came out.

Anyway, currently it's the only radio with that type of display. The new Ten-Tec rig has an LCD panel like that but perhaps not as neat (or "busy"?). I have owned everything under the sun in my 28 years as a ham and although some rigs had better this and that (last two were TS-870 and FT-1000D and they were good performers too), the ProII is as good an overall radio as you'll find.

I suggest going to www.eham.net where you will find a zillion reviews of this rig.
