A new version of APRSPoint is released. It works with Microsoft MapPoint which has great detailed coverage of US and Canada. It works with MapPoint 2002 and the newly released MapPoint 2004 as well. And the package is actually a lot cheaper than MapPoint software itself if purchased elsewhere. It's great for hams who want to get an APRS software that has an intuitive interface and don't want to scan maps themselves. The interface is totally integrated, and comes with extensive documentation. It works with all the popular TNC's, including Kenwood TH-D7 and TM-700 combos. Visit http://www.aprspoint.com/ for details.
Never heard about this software before so the post was worth reading. Playing around with X-APRS, WinAPRS, and UVIEW32
Would like to try this but not willing to give up the $$$ to purchase something I may not use.
Is there a trial version available? Also is there an option to link this with the National Weather Service symbols

an advertisement or not, it's informative for any ham interested in APRS.
I personally use UIView32, after using APRS+SA for two years...and I love my UIView. Doubt I will ever move to any other program.

Nice to see anything new for ham radio. Advertisement or not lets keep the hobby alive more than worrying about petty things like this.
My 2 cents worth!

I enjoy playing with APRS, so the post was informative. I have to agree though, UIVIEW32 Rocks.

Anyone ever try using APRS on one of the designated HF bands?

Yes, they do have a trial version, at least if you already have MapPoint (I do). Just download the software. I'll try to give it a workout this weekend and will do a 2000 mile trip in a few weeks.
I have a registered copy of version 1.2.7 but use UIView32 now. APRSPoint has beautiful Maps but every new APRS object creates a "push pin"... after around 700 to 800 push pins, APRSPoint locks up. You have to clear the push pins and re-start. KF6ZDM states that this is a Microsoft MapPoint problem. I don't know if the problem has been solved with this new version but UIView32 is my choice!
