False Sales Attributed to G0GCQ
Hi Folks
It has come to my attention that someone is using my callsign details (Address, name, etc.) to advertise radios for sale.
THIS IS NOT TRUE BUT A SCAM!!!
If you look at my details on qrz.com you will find my email address - which is not the same as the one the scammer is using.
Please note that I have nothing to sell at the moment but, if I did, I would only sell within the UK and via Ebay / PayPal.
I hope no more fellow Hams will be caught out by this scammer.
It is very sad to think that someone is obviously trawling through our details on QRZ to set-up these scams

I ran a Want add for a Spider antenna. I was scamed by a person using your call sign and Name. It cost me $175+15.00 Western Union. I did not read the info in this area. He used the E-mail address of "g0gccq@yahoo.com ". After I sent the money he sent me a Shipping info at info@firstflight-shipping.co.cc (This is a FAKE websit that scamers use) Tracking number FF477608932UK. If you go there you will see that it is being held in Customs and he E-mailed me and said I needed to send 100 GBP to a address he provided. I Googled and it is a address of a scamer. I them E-mailed First Flight and told them the story (I used the Site address that he provided) and got a answer back stating that it was a new law and I need to send the money and gave me a different address to send the tax money to. I Googled it and it is a Muslim Web site. I them Google First Flight and got a Phone number in the USA and called them. She told me that I had been scamed and the site address was a copy of there site and used by scamers to scam extra money.
I got another E-mail from a scamer but I am a lot smarter now that I was 2 weeks ago and new it was a scam. If you want I can E-mail you copies of the E-mails I got and sent. Thanks for posting the info. If only I had read post in this area.

Hi John
this shouldnt be able to happen on a site like QRZ
i thorght the only people able to look up our details on QRZ.COM
were registerd amateurs on QRZ.
and to register on QRZ you needed to be a licenced amateurs.
if i am right how come the scammers are able to get our details.
John you should remove most of your details from the QRZ data base
i.e on your qrz page you give your full postal details Dont post all your
address details its asking for trouble. if another amateur wants your details there
are ways they can contact you for your postal details.

Sorry, but you are misinformed. It is public info. There are a few different callsign lookup websites out there that maintain their own databases, also public.
For US calls you can get them straight from the FCC website. No way to hide these days!!

K7MH you are correct! The FCC has a database for call signs for the U.S. and the only way to get on there is to have taken and pass the test to be licenced. There are a lot of scammers, so the only way to protect your self is to do some invesigating, you get a e-mail there is a return from soandso@somemail.com and there originating ip address 123.123.555.111 just google it you will be amaized on what you will find. If you ever need help,1st try to track them down ( i might be able to help if i'm able) 2nd. contact your local F.B.I. office and file a report.

K7MH you are correct! The FCC has a database for call signs for the U.S. and the only way to get on there is to have taken and pass the test to be licenced. Unfortunately this is incorrect. The FCC ULS database can be searched by the general public without a login and displays all of the information the FCC received on you when you applied for your license or updated your address.
