Jack in the Box new bacon milkshake.
Has anyone else tried this?
It's pretty good. But it needs chives and sour cream.
Waiting for the scrambled egg smoothie.

I haven't tried it we don't have them here but I heard that you can ask for a small cup of the bacon syrup. Put on your fries, etc.

Very thoughtful of them.:o

As I remember that is the large one....
I had a regular shake...
I figure I canceled out part of that by walking home in the sunshine. :)
It could stand to taste more bacon-like....
Bacon is a dangerous food anyway.
If you knew all the crap they inject into modern bacon to make it taste like it does instead of sliced ham......

The "small" version (16 oz) has:
773 calories
28 g saturated fat
75 g sugar
...but that's not all!...
Also has 127 mg cholesterol, and 319 mg sodium.
So it's great for you!:o

I have my sodium under control, tossed green salad for dinner :)
cholesterol has always been good to very good.
It's the two hours of sunshine every day......
I'll admit I could do without the sugar and the fat...
You have seen me ;)
The good news;
That is the first milk shake I have had since 2004 we went to Ruby's for lunch before a movie my roommate and a good friend had planned on seeing together.
That was one of their 50/50 Bar milk shakes.
It was quite good.......
I actually prefer malts over shakes.
I use to make them all the time, and they were very rich.....

A very different situation from out here.....
We have a lot of competition and Jack plays second fiddle to In and Out, so they have to try harder. When I was back in Texas people use to rave about Whataburger.
My first, Second, Third, Fourth, and fifty experience with them was considerably less thay satisfactory.
On her receipt there should be a web address where she can go and rate that Jack in the Box.
It would do them Good.

JITB has been here a long time and as Sue said it's highly competitive. Not only are they competing with McDonad's, Burger King, Wendy's and Carl's Jr., but they have some serious "quality food" competition with In & Out, 5 Guys Burgers & Fries and other "more local" restaurants that aren't as big but focus on quality and service. If Jack was crappy, they'd be out of business around here faster than anyone could chug down one of those shakes.
JITB is one of the very cheapest fast-food places there is around here, and I think that's why they're still around. For any given "meal," they're about 10% cheaper than Micky D's.

I am not a big Jack in the Box fan, I ate them twice this week due to there being one on the corner on my way to work but generally I am not a big fan. The Bacon Milkshake might be good to try but I can't imagine I would ever choose it over a good old fashioned strawberry shake.

While I said Jack plays second fiddle to In and Out...McDonalds isn't even in the running.
The location of the first Jack in the Box is down here on El Cajon Blvd. within walking distance of where I live.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_in_the_Box#History
The food hasn't always been good, in the sixties and seventies you had to be stoned to eat there and yes I ate there plenty of times stoned. :)
In the eighties they went under an image change and the quality of their food improved and kept improving. My roommate worked at one while she was in college and everything was made by hand while you waited, save for the fries which were frozen along with the hamburger patties. In and Out is one step above that because everything is fresh.
Being in line at an In and Out is well worth it.
I need to get a look at some of the secret menu items and try them to see if they are just as good as what they are famous for.
I like the plane-Jane burgers In and Out offers up, nobody makes them any better....
Jack in the Box makes some great specialty burgers, we usually hit a Jack on the way back from one of the dog shows we attend. In and Out is a favorite stop after shopping at CostCo every month.
I have had other burgers and with one notable exception those are my two places to get burgers... The exception is a converted Topsy's On Washington St called Brian's Eatery.
The original Jack was a Topsy's drive in before it was converted to a Jack In The Box. some years later...

My father was a cane cutters cook, and then a cook in the Australian Army and for a few years was a carnie in a burger van. His and my favourite;

Sue, In & Out reigns supreme when it comes to amazing quality and incredibly low prices.
But this chain http://www.fiveguys.com/ is pretty good and they're opening up in southern California. There's now one open near me, in Northridge (near the Northridge Fashion Center) and it's very good.
Edit: I should also mention the very best tasting burgers I've ever had anywhere come from "8 OZ." Very small chain, not many locations. Incredible burgers, nothing else like them -- however, quite expensive. Hard to get out of there for less than $10 per person.

I can take or leave bacon. Even the leanest bacon, and I get that cut at the butcher shop straight off the pork belly, is hugely fatty and not a big turn-on.
Now, filet mignon is another story...

I think it might be.
Actually, no attention at all. If you want to make your own bacon (which I've done many times) just get them to slice the pork bellies on the "meat" side and leave off as much fat as possible. Rub it with salt to cure it (I wait about 30 days) then smoke it in a smoker, and fry it. For smoking I use hickory for as long as it burns (about 6-8 hours).
Makes great homemade bacon that is healthier than what you can normally buy.
But still, I'm not that big a fan. Even very lean bacon is still pretty fatty, that's just the way it is. I'm not so into fat.

Good man, Steve; Huzzah! Most "urban" Americans ("Urban-Americans"?) have no idea about preparing meat for consumption. There is a link circulating, although I can't find it now, that purports to be a "letter to the editor" from some naive someone about hunting being unnecessary. It seems she thought that, since meat was available in the supermarket, killing animals was beyond the pale. The thrust of the letter was that this young lady failed to understand that the meat at the store likewise came from animals. "Urban" America.
As for not "being into" fat, might I remind you: "Fat" and "flavor" both start with "f", and that's NOT a coïncidence.

I've spent the last three weeks eating too much fast food and chain restaurant fare. I finally went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of fruit and some veggies - no kidding. I can't wait to get home and start cooking vegetarian again.
I usually hit Jack at least once on each trip west. I ate at one on I-5 somewhere in the Central Valley this time, and I was not impressed. The food was OK for fast food, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The advertising sure doesn't look anything like the real thing. My younger brother was banned from Jack's in high school because of something offensive he told the clown.
Whataburger was my favorite when they had two stores in San Jose, but apparently nobody else liked them, because they both folded. I've been to their stores in Texas, and the burgers aren't anything like they used to be. I also ate at Sonic a lot years ago in Dallas, but they've cheaped out so much, I recently pulled in, read the menu, and left. McDonald's in California is not like McDonald's in most of the midwest. The California stores are a pain.
5 Guys is pretty decent - simple, basic, good burgers. I've lost my taste for Wendy's and Carl's/Hardees. Both have the greasiest, messiest burgers around. I'd much rather eat White Castles. I don't go there often due to the rich food, but Culver's is hands-down the best fast food in our part of the country. All the food is excellent, but probably a zillion calories.
I think even their salads are fattening. Their frozen custard is too sweet for me, but I like their shakes a lot. I'm also a fan of Maid Rite.
My mother loves Panda Express. I guess it beats fast food burgers or pizza.

Once a year or so I shoot a feral hog. I just gut them out and take them to a good meat processor. They even skin it and cut it up however I want, and package it, all for a reasonable fee. I never use processors for deer as I butcher and package them myself, but hogs are another story. I always try to shoot a nice sow about 200 to 250 lbs. They yield a good amount of ham steaks, pork chops, sausage, and bacon, which the processor cures for me.
These wild hogs are much tastier than the domestic variety. They have no chemicals or medication in them, and don't eat garbage or the nasty commercial hog feed. They feed on our garden vegetables, acorns, pecans, wheat, oats, and maize. They also consume huge quantities of corn meant for deer at our deer feeders. They can totally destroy gardens, flower beds, dirt roads, ponds and tanks, and commercial crops. They are so numerous here in south Texas that they are a nuisance. They can also be quite dangerous.
When the meat is properly cared for, they are so much better than domestic hogs that it is hard to believe they are wild.
They are not to be confused with our native Javelina, which is really not very good to eat.

The Jack In The Box that was a few blocks down from El Cajon Valley High School had ain interesting reputation while I was in High School.
You could go to the drive up window and ask for a Peanut Butter Shake, you would hand the person taking your money a $10.00 bill and drive up to the window and collect a Jack In The Box bag with a lid of dope. in it.
This went on for a year or so before we had heard the item on the hidden menu was discontinued and the Jack was under different management.
I loved having an off campus pass :)
