Hi all,
It seems as though my VX5R has up and died.

I cannot get any audio, other than the key chirps and entry tones, when working the keypad.
When I transmit, I hear the speaker make a momentary piercing ping the moment I key up. It does not ping the repeater.
I have swapped antenna to no avail. I have keyed up the repeater with another transceiver to see if the S-bars fluctuate; which they do not.
The display and back-light act as they should. Keypad works. Battery is fully charged. Have used it very little.
I have used my hand-mike on it as well, with no change in symptoms.
Hmmmmmm....what to do.

Did you try to do a reset?
This is detailed on page 58 of the manual http://mcars.us/Manuals/VX-5R_OP_Manual.pdf.
Try that and see if you get any response. If you still can't get any response then you may want to consider sending it in to Yaesu USA for repair.
Hope this helps

Yup, did both reset modes. No change.

Then perhaps the service manual would be of assistance. As you may imagine the parts inside are really tiny and very close together.
It might be a repair job you can do.
