Don't hold your breath waiting for that replacement HTX-10...
as it has been discontinued months ago, they are probably trying to locate one for you.
I have not seen one at any of the local RS in may area for months.
You probably could have purchased another rig at the close-out price for what they charge for an extended warrenty.

Being a former RadioShack manager of 11 years, I will say this about the TSP on your rig:

If the unit you are having replaced is no longer available, be very wary of the fact that if they do locate one, it will more than likely be one that is a dusty store display unit. Now, since the Shack has jumped from the amateur world, they are now in a fix as to how they will replace your HT.

I would contact the TSP department in Ft Worth, TX, and give them your TSP ID number, which is on the receipt. If you do not have that, then they can get it for you. I take it though, by the way you are talking, you have this info already.

If they are completely unable to locate a replacement unit, then you need to tell them they MUST find or pay for a comparable item. Kenwood made a few of their radios, and you can see that Kenwood has many great HT's to compare to.

Tell the folks in Ft Worth that you have waited long enough, and you NEED to replace this radio now. Once you have done this, they should be able to get you fixed up rather quick!

WORD OF CAUTION:
Whatever you do, do not go off into a tangent with them over the phone about this, as it does you no good whatsoever! Just sound as patient as you can, and be friendly as much as you can. With those folks at RadioShack, honey will attract the fly!!

Good luck, and I hope you get your unit ASAP!
Jeff

I have a HTX 10 you can have. I've spent months trying to get it to do ~something~......~anything~......besides squelch! As with ALL of my radio shack purchases.....

I'll stick with my Yaesu's. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
