This Flame war, rhetoric, kill the ARRL, Ham vs Ham, revolutionary web sites (AKA as tempests in a cyber tea pot), and the current discussion about the merits, or lack of merits, of CW in regards to WARC 2003, must be a Wireless Service's Company Washington D.C. Lobbyist's dream !!!

The Wireless Lobbyist doing research on Amateur Radio is thinking

"How can we get rid of those Ham Operators sitting on
that pile of frequency allocations worth billions, so we can get
them?"

upon reporting back to his superiors, the lobbyist remarks:

"Thought the the job might be tougher, but from what is seen on
QRZ web page postings for example, Hams are doing quite well at
destroying themselves".

"They are lambasting the only organized Ham representation in Washington, the American Radio Relay League. In fact, it is so bad (yet, good for us) the hams can not agree on what to do with their own organization because of recent FCC license restructuring. It seems that the Hams are still fighting over the decades old Morse Code issue. They can't even decide about the Morse Code issue coming up in the WARC 2003 (the International governing body who allocates Amateur Radio frequencies worldwide)".

"After doing research, and finding out more privileges are available to more Hams, I thought most Hams would have seen the FCC license restructuring as a gift"!

"I obtained a portable SW receiver and listened to Amateur HF bands listed in the frequency guide and heard some off color remarks and and more arguments on HF. Turns out a lot of older hams still have a low regard for the new hams. Taped the transmissions too, this will be great to play back at the Congressional committee discussing FCC frequency refarming."

Moral : We've got much bigger fish to fry.

The FCC has spoken about Amateur License Restructuring (the Morse Code Issue). It is a done deal. Move on!

Can't we all just get along, instead of beating a dead horse? The
Wireless Companies are hoping we can't!

If a ham wishes to use CW, then more power to him. By the same token, let us not criticize those hams that don't use CW. I think ANY HAM, new or old, no matter what license class, who makes an honest attempt to play by the rules (Part 97), is an asset to the hobby.

The REAL issue is getting kids in the hobby. If they see or hear this bickering, especially on the Ham Bands, it cannot be good for recruiting.

Let's not hang ourselves with our own rope !!!
