W4WB (w4wb@arrl.net) writes "Many folks have been asking for a good interface between the FT-100D and the LDG Electronics AT-11MP autotuner that offer ease of tuning and retains the CAT capability. As most of you know, a major drawback in the FT-100D is the CAT interface. If you have the Yaesu tuner connected, you cannot use the CAT control for the radio. To overcome this drawback to the FT-100D and to satisfy the desires of many FT-100D and LDG tuner owners, W4RT Electronics and LDG Electronics have collaborated to develop a One-Touch Tune module (OTT-100D) for the FT-100D. (Note: There is a Yaesu software problem in the FT-100 that precludes the use of the OTT-100D.) The OTT-100D is similar to the OTT-817 that is widely used with the FT-817 and the LDG Z-11 QRP Autotuner.
In our system, you can use and LDG AT-11MP or RT-11 for an autotuner and still have control through the CAT interface. This system should be released in September and cost about $70. If you already have an AT-11MP, you will need a software update to allow operations with the One-Touch Tune module for the FT-100D. The OTT-100D can also be used to generate the carrier for adjusting manual tuners.
For additional information, see www.w4rt.com. Orders will start being taken on 01 September 2001.
