This is one excellent dual band radio. #I have had not one problem with it except with the transmit audio when you get out of cross-band. #It's very scratchy. #To fix this - just exit cross-band when both sides are NOT busy. #Or when you exit cross-band just turn rig off and back on - that will fix that. #I think that is a common problem with the 8800 and 8900. #Other than that it is a great rig. #I think it is the best 144/440 rig for the money out there. #Lots of improvements over the 8900 Quad. #Don't think you could go wrong with this one.

I just received an email telling me that Yaesu now has a fix for the cross-band noise problem. #THANKS! # Larry..

Larry,
Where can I find the info on the fix? #I have two of the 8900s and use the x-band function quite a bit...
Also, what kind of improvements have they made to the 8800?

Hello Glenn - they told me you have to send unit to Yaesu for the fix. #About a 2 week turn around time...
FT-8800 has memory banks - 8900 doesn't....

Ok, Thanks,
I am having another problem with the 8900 mounted in the 18wheeler, the display locks up on it, it will still tx and rx as normal, I can change channels etc, etc, but the display will not change. Sometimes it will go back to working as normal after a few minutes, then other times I have to cycle the power off and back on. The 8900 set up as base has never given me any problems...But then it gets used less in a month than the on in the truck gets used in a day.

I have not heard of any 8800's displays locking up. If you find the fix - please let us know. The 8800 is working fine on base so far. Thanks for update......
