Ok, this is a simple question, with numbers required for answer...so far so good... here is the question: In the last week ( 7 days ) how many hours did you spend listening / talking on your AMATEUR radio ?? ( any band, base, mobile, ht ) . I guess we could get technical about the rig being ON and no one within 10 feet of it,like in a house or it being ON and every one being GONE or ASLEEP; but for simplicity sake, just the above question should handle it.

Listening? 24/7. Talking? Not much. Nothing intelligent to say. (NO snide remarks).

I average about 6 hours a day when I'm not traveling. Last week was pretty average, so let's say about 40 - 50 hours, including the weekend. Most was listening or playing with SDR, though. I only made a dozen QSO's or so and worked 2 new countries from here.
73,
Let's see, I spent around 40 hours last week building, testing, debugging, transmitting on, receiving with, KA band ( 30 Ghz ) radios last week. Does that count for anything ? ? ? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'd say 1 hour a day listening/talking (into DXing, so there's not much talk time). Pretty standard. This morning had a nice two hours (5 am till 7 am) for the Oceania contest before kids came in. But those three hours were GREAT.

Just a newbie, so I try to keep radios and scanners on all the time. XYL don't like them while watching TV. been trying to get traffic on local repeater but it is very under used. homebrewed a yagi and chatted a few times wth hams on next local repeater, was trying to get 3 local repeater but no such luck yet.
was on the road friday, took my handheld and listened a bit. picked up tip about traveling tool sale, stopped and dropped about $20 for "stuff"
most stuff i have been listening to on 2 meter. the 70cm repeaters i try dont answwer, not even a roger beep. must not have PL set right (i checked! ) runn at 5 watts or 1/2 on my Yaesu FT-727R
tried to find ISS using satPC32, but aint finding it in sky on passes.

8-10 hours a day monitoring 7 days a week.
Perhaps averaging 45 minutes a day transmitting.
All on 2m, excepting the ARS/ARES/RACES drill last weekend. About drove the GF nuts monitoring the coordination frequency on 2m, and simultaneously the Medical Services South site on 70cm.
She can't handle three conversations at the same time very well, lol http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Probably averaged about 3 hours a night, but, being retired, I tend to turn the radio on and monitor 14300 about half the day or so. Not sure that qualifies as "time spent on the radio." Evenings I check into a net or two and then monitor the bands while I do research on the web, on in books, or pay bills, or play around with my new oil painting set, or the watercolor set the wife just got me for my birthday. If I hear something interesting, especially down in the DX portion of 40 meter CW, I may put the paint brush aside and check out the key.
With that as a guideline, I probably spent about 1 hour all week actually "on the air" - meaning in QSO with someone, including the nets. The rest of the time was listening.

One hour a day, copying code practice on W1AW. That's it.

I would say about 3 hours a nite. Way more on the weekends.
Out of all that time I talk about 1.5 hours on weekdays longer on wendsday nite when we have a net then about 2 hours that nite. evey other Sunday we have RACES nets so I am talking up to 2 hours then.
By the way all those in the Dallas/Ft worth area are invited to join in Wed nite on 444.225 repeter +/no tone @ 7pm it is open to all.
