Dear Ham Radio Enthusiasts,

# # We are a senior electrical engineering design group at Grove City College [www.gcc.edu (http://www.gcc.edu)] in Grove City, PA and we are currently working on our senior design project, which is an antenna rotator control system. #We have formulated a brief survey that will greatly assist us in designing our system and would like to gather your thoughts and opinions on the subject of antenna rotators and their corresponding control systems. #The survey itself includes an introduction and purpose and explains how the results will be used. #The survey can be found at the following address: Rotator Survey (http://www.scioly.org/survey.php)

# # We would like to compile the results of our survey within the next 2-3 weeks, as we are on a tight schedule and are eager to gather this vital information before we design our product. #Every bit of information we obtain before we engage in the design process will be extremely helpful to us. #This is why it is important to gather information from experienced and well-knowledged users of antenna rotators and their corresponding control systems. #The information gained from this survey will certainly prove invaluable to us during the design process. #Thank you for taking the time to read this post and we hope that you will take a few minutes to fill out our survey.

Sincerely,
Ben Jones jonesbn1@gcc.edu

First of all, contact the rotor manufacturers. Most hams don't know much more than how to twist the knob that controls their rotors, if they have one.

My feelings are that rotors take too long. Build 4 wire beams, pointing in each of the 4 directions, and hook them up to an antenna switch. By flipping the switch you can instantly alter antenna direction to whatever is desired.

I filled in your survey and made some suggestions on features.

Good luck on your project.

I don't use a rotor yet, but I did look over your survey. I encourage hams here on QRZ who do use one to do the survey. I wish you best luck with your project.
