http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif I have been reading MY posts on different topics for a hour or two, and I do NOT like 99% of them at all...can you do me a big favor and #1) take my name out of your lists of users... 2) take out all my posts on varied topics ( at least the ones listed now on the main list #)..........3) remove my I P from the " ok list " ......4) forgive me for saying thing I really did NOT mean that may make ME look bad to any one......5) re set the number of folks who have checked my profile to ZERO, so I can tell how many folks are seriously interested in contacting me in the future, and eliminate the #" potential stalkers #who may try to find me for lousy reasons ". #I dont want to be a bad forum user, and from what I have read of MY posts, I am becoming what I used to despise. #It seems all I do is write things I would not say " nose - to - nose " to any one. I DO apologize to all whom I have offended, even in the slightest, from the bottom of my heart. May GOD ( or whomever you look up to ) bless each and every one of you, your families & your friends. Good bye --- kd4amg #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Darn! Now I've got to go through every darned posting on the web site to see what the heck you are talking about. Is this a "create busy" thing for me to do? Heck, I have enough to do!

And that should say something -- When I read a posting, I remember the article, not the poster. I address (in almost every case, but there was one recent notable exception) the content of the posting. The idea is not to categorize an individual, but rather an attitude; not a person, but an approach. When it's all done, I don't remember individuals as being the "dumb SOB who said that!" I just remember what was said.

I don't know if you are being overly critical of yourself or not. But "retreat hell." Believe in yourself. If you said things that you now disagree with, then say so, and say why. If you said things that you still believe are right, but are just tired of offending people, you are an exception, for there are very few here (or on other ham forums) who have any inhibitions at all about offending people.

I wonder how many are like me; read the article and agree or disagree with it, and then don't care who wrote it. If you fit into a category, then you are the one who put you there.

On the other hand, if you are having a "pity party" this is probably not the place for it, as I doubt anyone will give you a gentle pat on the back and say "Well done, my son." Go get drunk, get over it, then do your thing.

These forums are, in my opinion anyway, our 'sounding board.' I'd much rather it be here and on eHam, than on 75 or 40 or 20 meters. I mean, geeze, that's exactly what these forums are for.

In the end, though, only you can decide if you belong here or not. Of course, if you get TOO far out of line, Glen will decide that for you!! But wipe the tears away and take another look.

Then do what you gotta do.

Ed

My guess is someone is using his account. I have not seen a post from AMG that was not informitive, and well thought out. If this is true, I am very sorry you feel this way. Best of luck.

Basically, since you are the only one who knows "off hand" where you posted you need to go through the various threads and delete them yourself. You do have the ability to delete anything that you have posted unless the individual thread is "locked down".

Frankly, I don't remember having seen anything from you that violated the "rules of the road" for QRZ.com. There may have been, but I don't remember any.

I know how you feel. I had to eliminate my e-mail address from my QRZ listing, due to receiving negative comments about my opinions on CW.

Still, this is America, where freedom of speech is the rule. As Patrick Henry said "Although I may disagree with what you say, I shall defend to the death your right to say it."

In my opinion, you should not worry about who you may offend. When you speak from the heart, there will always be some who disagree, but if they don't respect your position, that's their loss. QRZ can be a very nasty place... people feel bold to take pot-shots at you from the safety of anonominity... but, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, I always say !

I likewise haven't seen anything that I found offensive, from you or from anyone, but it's your decision.

One thing I learned long ago is, on the internet, and that goes for QRZ.com, too, don't take anything very seriously and especially don't take things personally. People that take too many things personally usually become very disgruntled and unhappy. When in doubt, always laugh.

Some of us may disagree with you and some people may be just "jerking your chain" or playing devil's advocate, but you're still entitled to your opinion. And if you get emails disagreeing with you, just hit the "delete" button. If you get threats, then you need to report it. There's no excuse for threatening violence over a difference of opinion.

What's with all the drama, Robert. Just search for your posts, and click delete! If you wanted to be private about this, your sure did pick the worst way to communicate. Why not send an email to a moderator?

Huh? How do you figure that? Viet Nam and Iraq are not the same. Political quagmires, perhaps. We'll see, but you will have to wait more that a few months. It takes some time to install a new government.

The reason for this is obvious. The ham operator should know better. Besides, the FCC has somce leverage against the ham operator, and can take his/her license.

BTW, what do you care about freebanders. Are you operating out-of-band?

As long as you actively participate on the web, your information and public identity is at risk. Have you ever searched for somebody on Google? I found old highschool friends by simply typing their names and a few unique characteristics about the person (e.g. football) It's amazing where your info goes when you register someplace. Go type your callsign in Google as see what happens!

I thing you're just trying to create a stir here, Robert. I enjoyt the board too. I probably post way too much- sometimes on company time. The problem that some have is they post, but they don't re-read their posts before they click reply!

Hey Robert KD4AMG --

Hey!!! Are you on drugs?? I think your posts lately have been superb (and above all others, I'D know). You have demonstrated a dry wit, and have offered many lighthearted responses.

We don't ALL always have to agree on everything, so that doesn't matter. We just all have to agree that:

1) Hamming is just a hobby (okay, it's a service too).

2) Despite our differences, we ALL have the best interests of ham radio at heart. We just disagree about how to get there -- which matters little because WE don't make the decisions anyway, and we ALL will have to learn to live with whatever is thrust upon us anyway.

3) Don't take life too seriously. It ain't nohow PERMANENT. (Credit to Walt Kelly and "Pogo.")

Dood, don't go.

Out.

Don't post something in a forum that's directed at a particular user or moderator unless you want the rest of the community to comment. That's what Private Message is for. You could of send a PM to Glenn and all this would of been taken care of without the drama.

I like AMG and his views are a nice counterpoise to the hive minds that post here. AMG: I know its fustrating when you feel like you're being ganged up on by big guns. My advice is to take some time off, cool off, and come back before you do something drastic.

This board is pretty tame compared to other web boards I've been active in. A week ago I signed off of a general chat board because one of the members joked about beating his wife. I was attacked because I called that member to task.

I've stopped taking "online communites" seriously. Since there's no eyball contact, there's too much potential for "keyboard courage". At least with our hobby it's tough to troll or flame another person because chances are you are going to meet them in person.

I encouraged my kids to "play" with guns after school. They had more time for practice than I did, getting home earlier than me. All but one were able to outshoot me.
Shucks, I taught them too well. Kept the rat population thinned out quite nicely.

They learned at very young ages, how to handle dangerous equipment, and to comport themselves with sense and appropriate caution that any dangerous object requires, whether a gun, a saw, a car, or a pet rattlesnake or even their mouth. In each case they are in control and responsible for the consequences.

The only firearm related injury in my neighborhood was a friend of mine who committed suicide. A viet nam vet marine. Intentional? Yes. Definitely not an accident. He well knew the consequences of using the gun. He did not think about the consequences and long lasting repercussions to those around him, from his actions.

Accidents are very rare with people taught as children to show proper respect for anything capable of hurting someone. And when allowed to face the reality of where food comes from, and when pets die and relatives die, as this is the only way for them to form early judgement as to the value of life, and not take a life without cause. Only to protect yourself or loved ones from harm. And if necessary to provide food for same. But not to fear guns, life or death, just because they exist.
