Here is a pic I took at our local mall of a baby getting shot up toward the ceiling on a bungee cord.

75209

Click to enlarge, but notice her hair, it's standing straight up. Also notice at the bottom of the pic the posture of the person that just let go of the cord. That should give some indication at how fast the babies accelerated in the trek to the top of the cord, about two and a half stories off the ground.

The kids were around 2 or so, too young to be able to talk for the most part. Some were younger. The smaller they were, the higher off the ground they shot.

Is it just me, or is this a serious accident just waiting to happen???

WTF are the parents of these very young kids thinking??????

On edit: The reason her hair is standing straight up is that she is on the way down. The peak of her trek was four or five feet higher than she is in the picture. Still, I think it's a pretty good shot for a cell phone.

It's simple fun, that's all...as long as the kid isn't so young that it'd be unsafe.

*SPLAT* "Oops, lost her in the sun."

If some of them were a few months younger, the boys would still have tails.......

I'm just sayin'...

Take a REAL close look at the bottom of the pic. Zoom in. Check out the hot mama with the cleavage and the stroller with the baby in it.

Next, please...

Zing!!!!

If every picture tells a story I just may have shot one of my best pics, using a cell phone at that! I can't help thinking of Monty Python skits when looking at the picture.

Husband: "Honey, what happened? How the hell did you get two black eyes?"
Hot Momma: "Don't ask."

Kids can develop fears (bugs, snakes) from experiencing things (or having a kid chase them while holding them) at a very young age.

It would be interesting to see if these kids develop phobias or hang ups as a result of being shot at the ceiling!

*laying on a psychiatrist's couch*

"I don't know what it is, Doctor--whenever I'd load myself into the cannon--for my act in the circus--I'd go into a hysterical panic every time. The same thing happened in my last job, too, before I had to quit."

"Interesting. What were you before you were a human cannonball?"

"An astronaut."

That's just irresponsible. I can't believe the store can even get insurance to do that to little toddlers.

There used to be a time when Mums and Dads protected their infants from the dangerous things in life, falling into ponds, being bitten by a dog, scratched by a cat. Some unborn babies in the womb have been found to be oversized, and other affected by their cigarette smoking and drug taking mothers. Now, it seems that those days have gone and just for a laugh they can put their cherished offspring into a catapult and send the little mite for a quick trip to the roof of the supermarket. How extrmely cool ! And such fun !

Hmmm...I remember falling off my bike, riding in the car with no seat-belt and laying on what you folks on that side of the pond call the package tray while watching the cars pass by. I remember taking my Buck Knife and shotgun to school because we were going to go hunting after school.
There is even a video of me playing in the pits at our local dragstrip when I was 3 or 4 on YouTube. You know the terrible things that can happen in the pits? I was sent outside early in the Morning, called in for lunch, and sent outside again until Supper. Never a look was thrown our way and unless we were hurt badly we didn't go home. I was 5 or 6 then.

Mom had 8 kids...we all survived.

Parents today are sissies and so are there kids.

The legal release must be longer than War and Peace.

I'd do it if there were an adult version. I'm adipose challenged, so I hope the adult version can handle a lot more weight.

Something must be done immediately. That woman should be tracked down, and forced to wear a top that is not cut that low--she is risking a 'wardrobe malfunction' at any moment. Think of the emotional scarring that could occur if one or both of those puppies jumped out in a public place...

As to the kid? Who cares, and why should we? If it were so hazardous there would already be a string of class action law suits against the manufacturer of the sling--and no operator would allow it. As MOT succinctly recalls, we have lost our collective minds--and behave like a bunch of little old ladies aghast at the precariousness of the world. We did things even a bit more dangerously in my early days. Now one would be arrested for endangering a child. Glad I was able to experience much of it before the pablum pushers got as far as they have with their agendas.

The only psychological damage going on is what is being poured into these kids by the system...

I don't know if the picture will work, but this is Brady St in West Wyoming, PA. I grew up on top of the hill (On Butler ST.) and used to ride a cart in the summer or take my sled in the winter from the top all the way (1 mi?) to Shoemaker Ave. unsupervised when I was in the 2nd through 8th grades. That hill is allot steeper than it looks.

I guess your gonna have to click the link: -------> http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Brady+ST,+West+Wyoming,+PA&hl=en&ll=41.316856,-75.850819&spn=0.001338,0.00284&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=45.957536,93.076172&vpsrc=6&hnear=Brady+St,+West+Wyoming,+Luzerne,+Pennsylvani a+18644&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=41.316942,-75.850905&panoid=lS9LSC5dSUs4jzSO03_2kA&cbp=12,344.67,,0,9.69

Oh Yeah, That house on the right....They had a Coy Pond in back that I got into trouble for fishing in it when I was in the 4th grade......

73, JordanYes, there was exactly such a Darwin Award implement at the county fair I attended in August. The pylons were 90 feet tall, if I remember correctly. The rider was firmly strapped into the mechanically winched sling, then fired straight up to a claimed peak of 250 feet. That was an amazing figure, but even more amazing was the price per shot: $35 for lone idiots, and $50 for those who wanted to tempt fate with a chosen companion.

I thought that would be dangerous for children that age,as their necks could break? I hope I`m wrong.

This new contraption gives parents that shoudn't have bred someone to sue other than themselves for shaken infant syndrome. My money says a lawyer invented it!

Putting a toddler in that thing is just plain irresponsible on the part of the parents and the operator. A pox upon their houses!

Is this for the child's entertainment or the parent's? I would think it would give little ones concussions at best. "Hey honey, let's give the kids brain damage..."

That operation is illegal. The baby had not reached the age of descent.

Yes, I am serious about it being against the law to permit a human to participate in a dangerous feat.

If an adult wants to bungee jump he must sign a statement that realeses the bungee jumping management from any responsibility, Such a statement of consent may only be signed by the jumper. A baby can not sign such a statement (to realase the promoter of the event or the management of the mall of responsibility), because he or she has not yet reached the legal age of consent. In a case like this a parent or legal guardian may not sign for the child because the risk is not a risk to the parent in the same way that it is a risk to the child.

Young children's skulls have not completely hardened. Brain damage or other internal damage may not be noticed until the child grows older. Parents must protect their children from unnecessary mechanical stress.

Wex, w2ilp (Ignorant Loony Parents) risk their own kid...just for amusement purposes?
