Hello all, my first post here.
I have a Yaesu MH12a2b speaker mic that blew
the mylar speaker. The speaker is 1.5 inches in
diameter and has no markings on it whatsoever.
Can anyone tell me what the rating is on the
speaker? 4 ohm? 8 ohm? Something else?
What watt rating? I can't find any info on the net
about it at and there are DOZENS of speaker choices
available from the major electronics sites.
I bought a smaller speaker from Radio Shack but it
doesn't sound good at all and requires that the volume
on my ht be turned up nearly all the way to
listen comfortably.
Thanks Gentlemen.

If it is like the earlier yaesus, it is 42Ω. I suggest you just buy one from Yaesu parts.

HI GEORGE,

John - KM5YE here. I have a mic I am no longer using. I would be happy to ship it to you
and in return - just send me what you think it is worth if that is OK. Yaesu doesn't make
them any longer and this is like new. I'm happy to send photos if you like.

E-Mail me at jbrunk@earthlink.net and just ignore the spam filter - I'll get the mail.

That's an act of kindness which shouldn't go unrewarded. You're a true-blue gentleman, John.

No big deal, Alan. Glad to help if I can. It's been in a box for 14-years! I tried to send George a "PM", but don't know if it went through. It said, "submit message", but does not show in my "Sent Mail" folder. Hope it went through OK. I'm so new maybe the "PM's" are reviewed before sending?

When another amateur - any amateur - offers to help you out and send an item or items for EVALUATION before payment is tendered, show an equal amount of RESPECT and pay him or her what the item is actually worth - not some ridiculous E-Bay amount based on equipment that in NO WAY represents what was sent for evaluation.

Certainly, it may be risky for one amateur to send another ANY equipment and really expect to ever see it again, but we "oldsters" come from a different generation where ones name (and call sign) are sacred. Taking advantage of age or mental deficiencies is not a concern - but others do not come from the same honest place in or generation. Accepting a piece of equipment - be it worth a great deal or a few dollars and then ignoring the offerings ham as if the item were sent as a gift seems to be quite acceptable. Admittedly, most amateurs are honest and would never take advantage, yet, now my brother finds that there are in fact those who are not as upstanding. The name of these less than honorable amateurs seems to mean little - if anything to some individuals; one in particular from this very forum. That is beyond sad - it is disgusting.

Enjoy those Yaesu microphones sir. I am certain someday you too will suffer an affliction and be taken advantage of by someone you trusted to be honest and value not only their name, but the call sign attached to your name. Then YOU will know the disappointment you inflicted on my dear brother and his lovely wife JANET. Should you read this - know that you did indeed create more sadness for a couple who could little afford you taking advantage. Not so nice a move, sir - not nice at all.

73 to all - HAPPY HOLIDAYS and may you always remain as honest and generous as my dear brother.
