Well, I traded a guy a used icom 725 ( w fm board and new heil mic ) for a DX -70... I paid for shipping both rigs..
the guys says he wanted a "bigger rig". great, I needed a smaller one for the mtr hme. I shipped... He waited until he got my rig, then a week or so more, then shipped his.
When the rig arrived, it was no xmit on 6m, low & no output on hf depending on freq, became extreamly hot quickly, and used way too much amps.. ( almost 30A @ 12.9v into a dummy load.) I e-mailed the guy back who replied,
"yea I know 6m doesn't work, but our trade was for a hf.. " Well, I was a little up set and said I was ashamed of him and thought it dishonest not to disclose this information before the trade, please return my radio..... He replied, that I disrespected him by calling him dishonest, and "you act like I should just go away, so consider your wish granted." then no replies to e-mail. I found the number he gave was disconected, so I tried to find his. I accidently found his mom who was very nice, but kinda like I was on my own with this guy...
So, after a little research, I found the radio club he belonged to and sent an e-mail requesting some help to resolve this matter by perhaps simply inquiring with this guy "wuts up".. This worked. after a month my rig was returned, and I returned his.. Those of you who contacted this guy will recognize my call. I wish to thank you very much. I just think this guy tried to pull a fast one and got caught.. I won't mention his call here, perhaps he's learned a valuable lesson in honesty. just mostly I wish to thank those of you at "cooken" who helped out..
Respectfully,
