The PA QSO Party is scheduled for October 11 and 12. Check out Pa QSO Party home page (http://www.nittany-arc.org/paqso.html) for full details.

Our club, The Steel City Amateur Radio Club, has been selected as the Special Event station for this years party. You can check us out at Steel City ARC (http://www.w3kwh.com)
Every contact with W3KWH will get you 200 bonus points. We'll be working 10 - 160 mt. So every contact, SSB or CW will get you 200 points EACH. We'll have a lot of radios and operators standing by waiting for your contact.

I'm quite sure it will be hot and heavy at our location, so be patient and keep calling. We won't quit calling QRZ until the last contact has been made.

If you're within driving distance of Pittsburgh, Pa, we'll be thrilled if you stop by, say Hi and maybe make a contact or two.

Thanks for posting the info! I'll be sure to point my part-time 2 meter Yagi towards PA on the 11th http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif. I managed to get a few "non power house" contacts from PA during the last ARRL VHF QSO Party.

Worked the QSO Party last year for the first time. I certainly had a ball! Guess I'd better start warming up my tube-type for contesting...... Certainly a fun contest for those just getting into HF.

not really, qso partys and contests in general are a waste of time.

It is nice to see some people discuss things in a civilized manner. At least most post who they really are. Some hide behind wall's as they pollute the forum with garbage.

I for one enjoy both QSO parties and contesting, though I am not hardcore. I dont stay at the rig for the entire time period for the event. I will sit for a few hours and ENJOY operating.

Remember radio is only a hobby.

QSO parties are a great way to learn better operating techniques. #I learned a great deal in the recent Maryland QSO party that I was able to put into practice recently during Tropical Storm Isabel. #Had I taken the above attitude that they suck, I would not have been prepared to assist the Red Cross and my community in a #time of need - I'm living up to Part 97, how about you?

Ultimately, it depends on the goal of the operator in the contest if the contest is for earning points or for honing the art and skill of radio operation. #Often, these can be done at the same time.

Contests are fun, challenging, and above all, a learning experience. #You might know everything, but I certainly don't.

PAQP is great! #I use it as a dry run for the upcoming NovSS. #It's a blast! #I may have missed it last year, but I won't this year.

I guess I better update my software.

Oh. no! I will miss it again due to a prior commitment.

Oh, well. I'll try again next year. Have fun, guys!
