I have an Alinco DX 70 The 100watt version, I had it in my truck with no problems except it would jump frequencys every once in a while. That didn't bother me to bad though. Well I took it out of my S10,and brought it in the house to use as a base. At the last moment I changed my mind, because I was going back on 3rd shift for a while. It's nice to have a checkin net early in the morning here in Virginia for that early morning ride home to keep me awake. Well to get to the point,I hooked everything back up the way it came out. When I turned the radio on it would just keep flashing the frequency I was on no matter which one it was. I have tryed holding the button that Alinco told me to do while pressing the power button...Nope that didn't work either. Any suggestions would be helpful...
Thanks and 73....

I won't say they're notorious, but you're not the first DX70 owner to have VFO problems (the PLL isn't locking up as it should). I don't know who they recommend to repair them these days, but I'd call them, and find out. Could you fix it yourself? If you have the tools you can, but you'll need an almost impossible to find service manual.
Service manuals for DX70 and DX70TH are downloadable from Alinco's website.

Make sure that the 2 small cables UX1076 and UX1077 are both fully seated in their respective connectors and that the wires are not broken. 90% of my DX-70 "unlock" issues are not due to the vco's not locking (yes, there are 3 of 'em!)
The flakey Multi-Function encoder is a UR0009 and I have plenty in stock if you want to fix it yourself. You can call for pricing and details, see the Alinco web site for support...I'm not sure if I should quote pricing here or not so I'll play it safe.

I'm the "official" Alinco repair guy here in the S.F. Bay Area; Alinco's web site lists the suggested repair facilities,
and I supply the parts and support for all of them if needed.
