I'm surprised no one has touched on this- I've tried to find threads or even look at images on Google to figure this out, to little avail.

How does one mount the control head of the FT-8800? I have the separation kit coming in the mail, but it looks like you can only attach that to a vercial surface with the control head facing perpendicular to the surface. I guess some other mount is requried? Perhaps like a paricular GPS or satellite radio mount, which has the right spacing for the screws of the separation brakcet? How does anyone have theirs mounted, then- suction cup? adhesive mount? I'm trying to figure out a good way to put it in my 09 Ford Escape.

Thanks!

Here is how I installed my FT-7800 control head, which should be similar to the FT-8800.

Hey Alan! Wait until you install an HF transceiver in your Smart car. Oh! What fun!

Alan, that seems about perfect! How long is the arm? I want mine to sit about like that, but my console is a little taller.

It's about 16". It attaches under the seat bolt.

Ha! Ha! I've thought about it.

With gas getting so high it's getting expensive running mobile in the state QSO parties in my truck!
