Hello, Friends! I have a 03 Outback Wagon which is longing for a mobile mount. I have two "screwdriver" antennas in storage and would love to mount one. However, the plastic bumper surround is something I need to get around. Has anyone out there configured, or scratch-built, a mount for the frame that works well? I have thought if setting up a receiver hitch, but I don't know of that would be the best way to go.

Please e-mail me directly at ac1y@nc.rr.com

Thanks es vy 73!

Low mounting does increase ground losses, but if you're unwilling to drill holes, you don't have much choice. On the left rear, attached to the left unibody extension, is a tie down loop. The bolts are typically 12 mm, and are strong enough to support just about any screwdriver antenna, as long as the material is strong enough. I suspect 1/2 inch steel would be adequate, but of course you'll have to find someone to fashion the bracket to your specs.
