I just hate it when that happens. :)

What about all of the above??
What about all of the above??
Yes, that's what I wanted to ask. I do "all of the above", as do many others I would guess.

I'm fairly new to ham, but I love building antennas and trying stuff, like a good old chat from time to time, find it thrilling to contact a new entity, and even enjoy just doing a lot of listening. I would call myself a person interested in nearly all aspects of the hobby (except EmCom but its not so prominent in the UK, and was never the reason I became fascinated by radio 30+ years ago anyway...) From here in the next few years I want to try some portable operation, some digital mode stuff, learn CW, SOTA and maybe one day IOTA from the rock that sits a mile or so offshore that I can see from the back garden.
Its all interesting.

All the hot chicks. Plus it gives me plenty of opportunity to wear my snap on suspenders.

I can annoy all my neighbours with miles of wire and lightning attractors stuck in the air :p

You forgot to mention that yuo can annoy that idiot neighbour's phone with RF :D
When I get on the air, all the neighbors come running out of their houses screaming about how the world is coming to an end.
It's kinda fun!!:D

Working on old tube radios, working DX with the boatanchors and building basic antennas. Fun :)

My answer would be a compilation. I like to restore equipment, build a bit of my own small home brew gear, work on antennas, read/learn/understand basic aspects of the more scientific side, the communications aspect, and the simple nostalgia of the hobby. In the end isnt that why most of us get into the hobby, a simple yet complex fascination with most if not all aspects of the hobby itself? When a prospective amateur gets that itch, that interest we call it the bug because for most of us it is a Pandora's box of curiosity that just puts us in awe.

Everyone of those plus DXing and some Contesting I guess about everything the hobby covers.
