I had made a deal to sell an FT-1000,SP-5 speaker, and MD-Mic to Edward Grogan, WW1N. I even called him on the phone to be extra sure of the terms. I got up this morning to bring the equipment to the UPS Store, but, good thing I checked my email before shipping, the guy welched on the deal! If you would like to see copies of the emails, I'll FWD on request. Stay clear of this one!

I guess that the moral of this story is..
"SHOW ME THE MONEY" -- first, before shipping.

That has happened to me more than once. You're right - "SHOW ME THE MONEY" first even before packing everything up!!!!! Larry
I always ship as soon as the deal is agreed and I have an address. Sometimes payment is a bit late, but have seldom been gyped. I think when a person orders something, he probably wants it now. Guess I have just been lucky. # #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sorry no money,no product,no ship.
I've sold a fair amount of stuff via the Internet.
HARD AND FAST RULES...
I always get the money first! I WILL have the unit packed and ready to ship as soon as the sale is done, but it NEVER goes into the mail until the check is deposited.
For 'those I know' I don't wait for check to clear. For those I don't know.. I always wait for check to clear.
Reputable buyers have ZERO problem with this, and as a buyer I don't either = as long as BOTH parties understand the timetable and requirements.
buyers that are 'shady' will ALWAYS grumble, mumble, and try to get you to violate the prime directive.

This is drifting. It is not a case of fraud, but the irritating prospect of a lost or expected sale, not going through. Nothing was stolen and nobody lost anything. Sometimes referred to as Sour Grapes and really has no place in this forum until the party does it several times and someone actually loses a sale and is hurt financially by it.
Of course that is just my opinion

I would make sure no extenuating circumstances are the reason. two days ago I recieved an email regarding selling me a pair of scanners. I wholeheartedly agreed the next day. Today my truck broke down, requiring money for repairs.
luckily, I contacted the seller agreed to a delay in payment. life happens and one must keep that in mind. not all of us have cash flowing freely enough to keep financial obligations for our hobbies.
also, some people do not like to share their day to day problems, so he may not have mentioned it.
