I had a run in with GigaParts, it was with a Yaesu FT-100D. The radio was acting up, their policy stated that full refunds are only honored within a week of initially placing an order. I contacted them and they agreed to send a replacement instead. It turnes out the replacement was also defective. After several calls to GigaParts and getting Yaesu involved. They would still honor the full refund only after the radio was sent to Yaesu for evaluation. Yaesu processed the approval but it took nearly a month to get the credit from GigaParts.
I my case they kept their word, but it just took a little while.
One more thing regarding prices quoted on HamShopper.
The prices are not updated on the HamShopper page as often as they should be. The most accurate price would be the one posted on GigaParts web site.

Hi Tim!
I was following your conversation yesterday with Richard Beiler and Brandon Fielding quite closely, everyone at GigaParts wants to make sure that any problem our customers have are taken care of as expeditiously as possible.
The only special offer on the FT-8900R at the Hamfest was a $20.00 coupon which made the price $399.00, it's regularly $419.00.
I remember Brandon asking me about the $349.00 price listed on Hamshopper when we were at the Hamfest, I explained to him then that Hamshopper is an independent website which lists comparison pricing between many of the different amateur radio dealers. The $349.00 price they list for us and many other dealers is from back in June when Yaesu was having a special on the FT-8900R. Hamshopper doesn't update their website often enough to reflect the actual market price so what you see there has to be taken with a grain of salt.
In your conversation with Richard you said you wanted the price that we listed on Hamshopper. Please understand that we did not list this price and are not affiliated with Hamshopper in any way. The data listed on Hamshopper is historical and of no current value beyond use for comparisons.
When you were dealing with Brandon at the Hamfest and discussing this old price versus the new and current price it's obvious that a miscommunication occurred and you came away believing there was a $50.00 mail-in rebate on the two radio's you purchased when in fact this is not the case. You contacted us about it and we offered a solution.
Richard plainly explained to you that he would be happy to take back the radio's with NO RESTOCKING FEE as long as they are in new and resalable condition. If they are NOT in new and resalable condition then a restocking fee would apply. I believe that to be a reasonable offer. This is contrary to what you listed in your post, Richard explained this to you on the telephone clearly and thoroughly three times, perhaps another miscommunication?
We are here to work with you and help you. Our offer from yesterday still stands and our entire staff is here for you should you wish to contact us and work out a resolution to this problem. If you can suggest another resolution that would better serve you then please let us know! We would love to work this out with you, we really don't like having an unsatisfied customer, hopefully we can end this chain of miscommunications and resolve this issue today!

I'm sorry you feel that way. It was not our intention to deceive you. If you would like to send the radios back, our offer still stands.

It sounds like GigaParts is trying to resolve the problem. In my humble opinion they have gone much farther than a lot of people in business would. How many would come on a public forum and try and resolve this ?
This is not meant to flame just my .02 cents.
Take a deep breath and call GigaParts and resolve this. You don't have to buy from them again if you dont feel like it.
FYI after this I'd buy from GigaParts based on their willingness to try to resolve this matter.

I also give credit to GigaParts for posting on this forum.
It sounds like the problem began with Hamshopper which had out of date information listed and was widened by an incorrect statement about a rebate. The listted price at the hamfest was $399 and the rebate of $50 lowered the actual price to $349. Seems simple enough. The lesson learned here is:
Do not rely on a third party for actual pricing. Check it out yourself.
If an employee of GigaParts made an honest mistake concerning the rebate to a customer, I think that GigaParts should bite the bullet and charge the $349 for the radio.
It is up to management of any retail operaton to keep their sales people informed as to pricing, special deals, and rebates. If the sales person made an error because he had the wrong information, It is not the customers fault. Internal problems should be transparent to the customer.
Of course, it is always difficult to ascertain what was really said, especially after the fact,
If I were you, at this point, I would take the refund. I would also expect GigaParts to pay for shipping it back to them.

I think you got two good radios for a decent price. Yes it sucks that poor communication (what we all are supposed to be good at) led you to believe that you were going to get $100 bucks back.
I assume there is not enough profit margin for the store to just suck it up and honor the rebate. And I would not think they could do anything beyond the offer they have made.
If it were me, I would be mildly ticked, but install and enjoy the radios. But that is me, and like everybody else here have different values and motives.

I placed a LOT of orders with Gigaparts. They were always interested in providing information concerning the equipment I was interested in purchasing. They also spent a lot of time and I am sure some frustration while I made up my mind whitch equipment to buy. When I had a problem it was resolved quickly and with extreme professionalism. I will bet when I need anything else they will have the best price from the get-go. You guys at Gigaparts have my vote!

They have nothing but GOOD reviews here:

....and they get another good review from ME, anytime one may ask me about their business. I have purchased a number of items from GigaParts and have saved a BUNDLE on them, not only in the net price paid but the free shipping, as well.
As an aside, I note that Giga may not always be my first choice for many specialty parts or hard-to-find items, but for those items they do offer, the service is first-rate and the speed of the order processing has been very fast.

the Web site should take the responsibility to contact Giga-Parts and who they get info. and if there is some sort of expiration date that should be conveyed on their web site.
I can say an old Trader Magazine that was dated when the item first came out for example ( Ill use ficticious here ) a New Hamtalk HF Rig model 2000 has all the bells and whistles , blah, blah, introductory offer at a unbelieveable price of $ 1795.99 msrp of $2000.00 ( already I used one penny below $1,796.00 odd pricing ) .
Ok it's September / October 2003 and for unforseen reasons the rig price went up past msrp of $2,000.00 now listed $2199.99 a penny below $2,200.00 are you with me so far ? ok say a B model just jumps out in November and that forces the price of the original model back down to clear them out B model just replaced the same price and has been added say the new 5 channels of the 60 Meter band and a revamp of the audio has now DSP ( Digital Signal Processing ) just to make it a better rig, OK so far ?
reminder this is just a example of things happen, and say the Magazine failed to mention that the original model price was changed and the B model was not avail until the next following month as well as the web site.
In order to be competitive everthing has to stay in sync otherwise it's become a dinosaur really quick and worst case scenario nobody wants to read last years ads on the web. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I knw a hard copy mag is now history just my 2 cents worth.
