PROCRASTINATION
AN ODE TO HAM RADIO

While sitting in my shack one night,
Looking out the window, what a beautiful sight,
The sun had set, the moon was shining bright,
Every thing was fine, much to my delight.

Listening to my radio, the hams were complaining,
There's a storm brewing, static was increasing,
As I watched the moon, much to my dismay,
A cloud passed over, more was on the way.

Soon there were #many, #the moon began to dim,
The temperature was falling, winter was setting in,
Rain was now falling, #and snow began a mixing,
I just remembered, my antenna needs a fixing.

It had served me faithfully for so many years,
I should be ashamed, it almost moved me to tears,
Work while the sun shines, my father told me,
But I was lazy, and time passed, as you can see.

Fear not, it's still up there, #I said, as I gladly went to bed,
It's battered and torn, #and hanging by a thread,
It's winter outside, and dark as can be,
It will make it through the night, just wait and see.

The next day came, I was up early, waiting for daylight,
I went to my shack, in snow , up to my back,
It had snowed all night, #now #Ice was forming,
I slowly drank my coffee, while waiting for morning.

I turned on my Rig, a-hah! I said in my head,
It's still working, or else all would be dead,
The hams were still complaining and going strong,
There's snow and ice, and it will be there for long.

I rushed outside to have a look see,
But damage to my antenna was not seen to be,
It's still up there, I said, #while the feelings were a mixing,
There's one thing for sure, "my antenna still needs a fixing."

What's snow? Ice I know about - we keep it in the freezer and use it with scotch.

Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.

I ought to run for president ot the Procrastinator's Club, but first I'd have to join. I'll do that as soon as I get around to finding the local chapter, that is, if they've gotten around to organizing one yet.

Wonder if Pa Kettle was a ham...

...you mean this post has absolutely nothing to do with the " know code / no code " discussion ? What a waste of space ( lol ) http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ...imagine some one having the NERVE to start a post that has nothing to do with the " know code / no code " situation ? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just what is this world coming to ? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ....some people have such nerve to start posts like this one and totally ignore such an IMPORTANT topic ( " know code / no code " ). geez..

You put ice in your scotch? What kind of savage are you?!?

Hmmm...I think that would make him a cold-watery-scotch-drinking savage.

I just realized... no one will ever know how relevant this thread is because anyone who is inclined to read it is also inclined to put off reading it!

With most things radio, I'm excited about doing whatever needs to be done and usually get it done as soon as I can. Even if it wasn't broke.

However, I am a college student, and I do find myself procrastinating. Usually it is the big papers that I put off. One thing I've found though, is my writing especially is better when I am stressed because I push myself harder. The stuff I write early, I find isn't ever as good. Now, math is another story. I've sat down at 8am and didn't hardly stop until about 2am the next day. That isn't a good way to do it. I find the equasions mixing and I make stupid mistakes.

I've thought about making a procrastinators club, but I never got around to posting flyers. Maybe next week. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Procrastination is like masterbation.... Either way you are screwing yourself.
