Hmm - the place down the street seems to have plenty of gas (just look up my call for my address) - sure its 2$/gallon for premium (which I have to buy to keep my valves from clattering) but at least hey have some.

Just count yourself lucky.
In January in Maracaibo, Venezuela there was a 3 day wait to buy gasoline. People sat in line, street vendors showed up, the music played, the beer flowed, and a good time was had by all.
Of course the price of gas is all the way up to $0.30/gal. When the price rose to that level, there were lots of protests and the truckers went on strike.

LDH----
Is this a joke? The pipeline broke? All of our gasoline comes by truck @ $1.52 per gallon, give or take a few cents, for premium 93 octane. All I can say is, either pay the piper or take up walking.

Some stations in Phoenix are charging $4 to $5 per gallon for gas. #Some dealers are price gouging. #I drove to a city, Case Grande, 30 miles south of Phoenix and paid $1.80 and no lines.
The news reported that gas prices in San Diego and Nevada are rising as a result of the Phoenix crisis. #I guess profiteering is not just an AZ thing.
Anyone driving to Phoenix, fill up before you get here and don't let your gauge go below 1/4. #Monitor the local repeaters.

Actually I'm probably going to be using my bike - gas prices here went up pretty high. Like 2$ a gallon for regular...
Can't get gas in Phoenix, 50 million without power on the east coast, but we're busy spending 160 billion to re-build Iraq... kind of makes you wonder, huh ?

What? Is it cold, snowing, freezing?
I walk to work about 1 1/2 km every day, rather than take the bus. The temperature is usually 42 C at noon and it's humid since I'm on the coast. The lowest temperature I've ever seen was 19 C, at dawn in the middle of winter, and only once.
But as a kid, I used to ride my bike 5 miles to the swimming pool and 15 miles to the library all summer long in Houston. We also played baseball which is more strenuous than walking or biking. In comparison, Phoenix is a piece of cake.
It sounds to me like you can make a better effort or pay the price. As we say around home, either put up or shut up. If you can't find alternate transportation, then keep your wallet ready.
Do you guys really need your governor around to keep things under control? You gotta be kidding! Sure am glad I don't live there!

Arco at 43 Ave & Northern has had gas pretty much continuously, but ALWAYS has long lines. Mobil across the street has gas about 40% of the time, and the lines aren't too bad. I filled up today at Diamond Shamrock at 67 Ave & Dunlap (Olive) for $1.99 and about a 2 minute wait. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Good Luck!!

One of my best customers is in Phoenix. #I used to live in both Texas and New Mexico. #15 miles on a bike in 100 degrees is a cake-walk, unless you're outa shape. #If you're outa shape, then you're the guy the gas companies can charge anything they want and you gotta pay - and you asked for it.
Youngsters are too spoiled. #
Remember the flower children? #The peace generation? #Anti-war protests in downtown Phoenix in August? #Air conditioning was the last thought on our minds.
And now, at $2 per gallon, gasoline costs 40% less than it did, on an inflation-adjusted basis, in 1973 and people are complaining. #In 1973, gas hit $1 a gallon for the first time, and milk hit 50 cents per gallon. #Today, gas is $2 and milk is $3.50. #So why aren't we complaining about milk? #Oh, I guess it's OK for a Wisconsin farmer to gouge, but not OK for a Big Oil company? #
What times we live in indeed.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>
Well I won't say anything about our "new governor".
As for gas prices, they were at around $2, here in Sierra Vista Az (3 hours from Phoenix, 1 hour from Tucson). You had a choice to be a flower child, we don't have a choice about the gas prices. I consider myself to be in decent shape and even going outside and doing anything in Sierra Vista (which is generally 10-15 degrees cooler then Phoenix!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif is strenuous (sp?). I'm also out in the sun/heat 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. Riding 15 miles in Phoenix would be pretty horrid.
Milk is one of the few strictly government controlled items out there. The price is raised to lesson the amount of money that the government has to dump back into dairy farms (IMHO).

What's your point?

By the way, the pipeline that feeds Phoenix was disrupted here in the Tucson area, by an act of deliberate sabotage (motive unknown). I hear it caused quite a mess...

Well, could have been some kids, a gang, or maybe even some "terrorists", but this has been happening every once in a while for several years now... this time they got a bigger result than previously, however. I heard a lot of gas was spilled and the clean-up is quite a big job... glad I live 35 miles SW of Tucson, in the hills at 5000 feet... where it's a lot cooler, too !

I'm really trying to figure out how the states governor can have that much effect on gas prices?
Free enterprise is after all not state controlled.
In Oregon gas prices are are largely affected by the output of refineries in Washington...

My "middle" daughter moved from Orange County, California, to Scottsdale, Arizona, about 2 months ago and says that she hasn't had much of a problem getting fuel. She did complain a little about the price when my wife talked to her yesterday. However, she says that it wasn't really much more than what she had been paying in Las Flores, California.
My wife said something like her vehicle held a lot of gasoline and she shouldn't have to get it that often. But, my daughter replied that taking her older two daughters (age 3 and 4) to school, various lessons, etc., was eating into her supply (mainly school attendance).

http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif here is ALABAMA i am going to grill ( bar - b - que ) some choice RIBS over an open flams with some home made sauce spread real thick over them, then activelt comsume them in to my belly, leaving no evidence but a pile of bones for the trash can. Then I will be consuming vast amounts of PEPTO - BISMOL to control the " gas " that will be in my teeny tiny belly... plus plenty of " gas release " from the back side to propel me through the house this evening, . We shall have the ac ON to keep the house COOL,and fumigated, and the radio ON to listen to some of you folks, on various H F frequencies...too bad there is no ALABAMA ( roll tide ) football on the tv so we can watch our favorite team LOSE to some other team, but that will start within the next month or two. Bar b - q ribs are greasy and fattening, and sloppy to eat and taste extremely good, mixed with mashed potatoes, and a gallon jar of sweet tea. So there wont be a lot of tv watching, but a while back the UHF dx on tv was going fairly well, got a SPANISH speaking channel ( think it was 34 ) out of Georgia ( problably around Atlanta )...and had channels 44 and 46 both showing the same gospel music videos, dont know where they were...long long ago around 1982 recieved a 99.9 fm station in Louisiana and got their address and got a letter of acknowledgement and confirmation of reception from them, I took the time to write down the songs they played and the commercials at the times I heard them, and they sent me the letter of confirmation back,...ahh for the "good old days " on the AM & FM radio s http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Sorry to hear about arizona. But oh well, here in my part of north Texas we pay around $1.60 it all depends on were we go to get it. I have payed as little as $1.40. But I need to get to the job so I pay and I dont bitch about it. As far a heat goes all I can say is: It's summer what do you want 60-75F with under 20% humidity?
Get over it it will be cooling off soon and then all we will hear is thats its too cold.
Herein NTX it has been 100 with 60-70% humidity that comes out to a heat index up to 110f. Now that is what I call hot, I should know I work out in all day long from 6am until 3pm btw thats in the heat of the day all I need to do is slam down the water and I have no problems.
WAKE UP AMAREICA the days of low gas prices are all gone if you dont like it get a SMALL amarican made car.

Looks like the WX in the Phoen was about the same as it was in Southeast Kansas, about 103 with heat index of about 110 or so, but with 65%+ humidity. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif As for fuelage, Kansas is sitting on about $1.69 per gallon, and MO is about $1.49 to $1.59 per gallon, so I won't gritch too much. But, you know how it is, the oil companies will look for any reason at all to justify some rate spikage, then they will lower the rates after consumers raise enough hell and/or the gov't starts to put the pinch on them. Oh well, it's a vicious cycle: I put fuel into this van to get to work so I can keep making this scrill to pay for another hit for the van so I can get to work... Also, I have this nasty eating habit that I must take care of, a hamming habit that eats fundage for good Ham goodies, as well as a few ladies to take care of, so keep that fuel coming my way, and I'll keep on filling this van. Hang in there Phoenix, the fuel situation will improve soon, as politicians like votes to keep that scrill coming to them. And, as for the health nuts that say "if you don't like the gas prices, get a bike;" that only works if you live in town and don't have to commute 15 miles to town, and don't have to work 10 hours in the heat on a construction project. So, hook ME up with that van, COLD Air-Con, and plenty of fuel, and leave the bikes for those squirrelly boys in the spandex pants and the mushroom helmets chillin' on their melons laying on the side of the highway passed out from heat exhaustion. I get enough exercise at work as it is.

Gas is cheap everywhere in our great country. If it wasn't small cars would be in big demand, not 4 wheel drive taliban assault vehicles. If gas were to get high priced people would even slow down a little to increase their gas mileage.

Was the drive worth the savings in gas? If so I would do the same. I can drive about 15 miles and save about 5-15 cents a gal.
We have a few stores around town that will let you use a discount card to save up to 3cents a gal, Kroger food stores come to mind as a few have gas pumps uot fromt of the store as well as Albertsons. I go to them at times.
But hey at least around here we dont torch a dealership just cause they sell Hummers and other big trucks. I think that was a very STUPID move. They could have killed someone.
And I bet they drove a SUV to get there (hahaha)

For lower gas prices go to the small town of Maricopa, about 20 miles south of Phoenix. Just take I-10 to State Route 347 and go south. The Express Stop has the cheapest gas.
One of the previous posters used the term 'Deliberate Sabotage'...
I chuckled as the thought ran through my mind..
'Is there such a thing as 'Accidental Sabotage?'
"OOPS!" said the terrorist, as the bomb he planted near the pipeline to sabotage it went off aboiut 10 minutes earlier than planned. "DARN! I MEANT FOR IT TO GO OFF 10 MINUTES LATER! DRAT THESE ACCIDENTS!"
Not picking on the poster (I forget who it was) I was just chuckling at the phrase.
It's late.. my mind is wandering.. and it's in a slightly uprooted stage right now which makes it susceptible to things like this.
