Came across this the other day and thought some of you might enjoy seeing it.

Sorry for the size of the image, but I wanted it to be readable. I had to scan it in two parts and do my best to stitch them together. Enjoy.
Hmmmm... #Looks like he might be W4WDR.... XYL is WA4REL? Nice looking Drake equipment in the home shack....
Pretty sure that is a Collins KWM-2 that the OM is operating!

The Army was still using Collins when i was in the service back in the early 70's. I would operate K4WAR and use it to call home a few times. I even contacted a friend once using tactical field hf gear while overseas once, but will never swear to it. A friend next door to my parents was a ham, so it was pretty easy.
Nice article,
Thanks for posting that, i had forgotten phone patches to home. Of course in his case it was even better with the xyl being a ham.

Is there an ECHO in here? :-)

Echo? What Echo? Must just be the voices in your head talking to you SY. I looked W4WDR up and sent an email off to the listed address asking if that was him, but so far no reply. It would be interesting to get a few comments from him recounting his '15 minutes of fame.'
